Look at the brighter side we have probabally the best SU #) variant and have all the knowledge about strenth and weaknesses of owr opponents + better radars and on ground situational awerness and above all some time back i saw a same kind of fantasy air war faught between an F22 & SU 30 so in short MOST OF THE WESTERN AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURERS AND AIR FORCES SEE SU 30 AS A MAJOR HEAD ACHE IN FUTURE AND WE HAVE THEM IN LARGE NOS so time to drop Rafale from MMRCA and buy Latest Su 30 Variants and equipp them with best radars and missiles

1. Su27 has no flares, no counter measure.
2. SU27 Radar was unable to track Grippen.
3. Su 27 was less manuverable than Grippen..
4. Su27 never fired a single BVR missile, though Grippen had it...

Its a promotional video, just propaganda if you want to call it like that.

I can give you a video were a Sukhoi aircraft shoots down several EFs with ease.

This is for Gripen NG and not the Gripen A/B or C/D.NG will have a Raven ES-05 AESA radar in the future.The Gripen NG test aircraft already flies with the ES-05.

It is quite possible that Su-27's are monkey models with inferior radar and as well all know the Su-27 does have quite a big RCS.From what I guess these are supposed to be South African Gripen NG against Angolan Su-27's, although in the end it's just a PR video to show the capabilities of the Gripen.Even though the Su-27's NIIP N001 radar is of much bigger diameter than that of the Gripen's it is quite old regarding technology.

What I understand is that Grippen NG is as good an aircraft as any and capable of taking on Rafael, Mk1, Typhoon, F16 Block 60 & Super Hornet on equal terms. However this aircraft will never be able to get international recognition nor the export potential that it deserves for one simple reason; Sweden do not have the ability to make their own power plant.

Volvo Aero RM12 is GE F404 built under licence in Sweden and thus subject to US permission before the aircraft can be sold to a 3rd country.

Incidentally, in my view Indian LCA; despite being an excellent aircraft on paper, has suffered because of lack of a decent indigenous power plant. Until the Chinese Wopen engine matures, JF17 would also continue to depend upon Russian goodwill.

Can Grippen NG take on SU 30 MK1 and win? Yes I think so.

Grippen NG may not be the best, but the differentials between EFT, Rafale or SU 30 and Grippen NG is not what most PDF members believe it to be. Grippen NG is a 4++ generation aircraft and can have it day too.

The biggest impediment for Grippen NG is Sweden. Sweden does't have the political standing that other countries that produce fighter jets have

Not only the powerplant. Sweden doesn't make its own AA missiles either. Anyone who buys Gripen will have to acquire the missiles from the US.

Those are SU-35s not SU-30s, but yes this seems outlandish and unrealistic.



And the claim the Gripen is "next generation" I don't see how-it is a 4.5+ fighter, that is all. For what it is the Gripen is a good machine and you get a lot of "bang for your buck" but it is inherently limited and as such outclassed by others.
