On the opening day of the NBA season the San Antonio Spurs coach, Gregg Popovich, has launched his latest broadside at Donald Trump.

Popovich, who has won five NBA championships with the Spurs, was incensed after the US president falsely claimed Barack Obama and other presidents didn’t contact the families of soldiers killed in action. Popovich, is an air force veteran and considered a career with the CIA before committing to basketball.

Trump’s comments came after the deaths of US servicemen in Niger, and Popovich was angry enough to contact the Nation’s Dave Zirin to go on the record about the subject. Zirin is known for his coverage of sports and social issues.

“I’ve been amazed and disappointed by so much of what this president had said, and his approach to running this country, which seems to be one of just a never-ending divisiveness,” Popovich told Zirin. “But his comments today about those who have lost loved ones in times of war and his lies that previous presidents Obama and Bush never contacted their families are so beyond the pale, I almost don’t have the words.”

Popovich also spoke of his contempt for Trump’s inner circle. “This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others. This has of course been a common practice of his, but to do it in this manner– and to lie about how previous presidents responded to the deaths of soldiers – is as low as it gets,” Popovich added.

“We have a pathological liar in the White House, unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office, and the whole world knows it, especially those around him every day. The people who work with this president should be ashamed, because they know better than anyone just how unfit he is, and yet they choose to do nothing about it.”

Popovich has been a constant critic of the US president. In May he was asked if he was ever distracted by events outside sports. While he did not mention Trump by name, it was clear to whom he was referring.

“It’s interesting you would ask that,” Popovich said at the time. “Usually things happen in the world, and you go to work, you know, and you’ve got your family and you’ve got your friends and you do what you do, but to this day I feel like there’s a cloud, a pall over the whole country – in a paranoid, surreal sort of way.

“It’s got nothing to do with the Democrats losing the election. It’s got to do with the way one individual conducts himself. And that’s embarrassing, it’s dangerous to our institutions and what we all stand for, what we expect the country to be. But for this individual, he’s in a gameshow. And everything that happens begins and ends with him – not our people or our country. Every time he talks about those things, that’s just a ruse. That’s just disingenuous, cynical and fake.”

Other NBA players and coaches have been critical of Trump. LeBron James has called the president “a bum”, while the coach of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, said Trump’s election was a blow for “respect and dignity”.

Probably won't be impeached (that will cause strife among the public)
He'll be pressured into resigning by the US deep state before his term ends.

I think he'd resign today if he knew it wouldn't hurt his reputation. I think he hates the day-to-day job of being President. I don't think he had a clue of how hard the job is. It's to stressful for him. There's a reason why every President looks like they've aged 20 years by the end of their term. The problem is his ego is to big for him to ever resign.

I really tried to be fair and give President Trump a chance when he got elected.

But this guy really is a complete clown and embarrassment to the United States of America.

Just a downright shameful son of a b****.

Seems every one has a field day taking potshots at Trump. He certainly does not have the dignified behavior or character that a president of the country should exhibit. Indulging in tweet wars or issue flabbergasting statements have become norm. But thats what he did during the election time , as such it should be no surprise.

Other thing ppl have failed to notice is that even previous presidents had this behavior but to a lesser degree whether it is clinton or kennedy every one had their own shenanigans. Only thing is that they were not so open , rash or rude.

Trump is a byproduct of US corporate culture where such attitude is common. It seems Trump has carried that to the oval office. Some one should tell that his actions will have serious repercussions on the country for years to come.

No such ppl dont resign, they are generally thrown out or sink every thing before they leave.
Having worked in many MNC's I have seen that behavior in top leadership. They simply dont care for what others think or say as long their position is safe. To put it in simple GOT style, lion doesnt concern itself with opinion of sheep.

If Dems get control of the houses and he is not able to implement any of his legislation, then depending on what Mueller finds he could very well be impeached.Kudos

When this clown will be impeached
As far as I am concerned impeachment cannot happen soon enough.Kudos

He did succeed with the whole kneeling thing in the NFL thing. Despite the fact that the act of kneeling during the anthem is what the hundreds of thousands of American soldiers fought and died for, he used it and spun it (while at the same time calling these players exercising their rights as Americans "sons of b*****s") to reflect the act as solely disrespecting the flag, and did, in fact, influence the NFL and owners to change their stance with the players.
