Greece proposes joint navy warship patrols with Chinese

@Kaan @xenon54 you think Cyprus is in the future?
Cyprus will probably be united again in the future.

2014 Cyprus talks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A strong Turkey military in 1974 surprise attack Cypress but eventually took 40% of the north part of Cypress. Not exactly something worth bragging about by Turkey.
:coffee:
We never had the intention to invade the whole Island, just the Turkish populated north but hey, thats still more than what China could do in Senkaku Island. ;)

Greece should get nuclear weapons.

Again, it's against our military doctrine. On the subject of using nuclear power for energy, we have a research nuclear reactor but due to the frequent earthquakes happening in the area it would be too dangerous to build larger ones for the production of electricity.

The U.S. approved to grant 400 M1A1 Abrams to Greece | Defence news from Greece and Cyprus
Greece to receive 460 M113s from US - IHS Jane's 360

The Greek side refused the 400 M1A1s. Unless Greece becomes Saudi Arabia in the next 2-3 years, we won't have enough oil to feed these things... We asked them if they could give us 90 of them and as far as I know they still haven't answered.

Chinese money is flowing into Greece, because we believe in the Greek economy, and believe it will recover strongly.

We wouldn't risk our money otherwise.

I'm sure that both the Chinese and the Greek side will get lots of profit out of these deals. :)

Cooperating with China will get investment. Cooperating with USA will get weapons. Your choice.

I'm sure that we can cooperate with China economically and still have the US give us weapons. I mean, it's not like we ask for them. Read above, they are sending us their stuff for free, lol. And there are always the Russians and the Europeans from which we can buy weapons. And hopefully we might also look into the Chinese weapons market soon. Ofc our domestic weapons sector is also picking up again right now.

Do you guys aware that Greece is a NATO country ??? And here some people talking about Stationing Chinese warships in East Europe.

Not permanently obviously but the article does mention the Greek side allowing Chinese ships to use Greek ports for refueling, maintenance and repairs.

Neither Greece or China possess any threat to Turkey, none of our business, if USA gets irritated thats their problem.

Cyprus, even if island gets united I highly doubt Turkey will give up entirely on island, first of all there will be probably military bases as a kind of guarantee, Turkey will have the right to intervene in some cases, and most logical that should happen is Northern part being autonomous, Turkey invested a lot in Northern part and there are many Turkish citizens operates workplaces and lives, all of these cannot be simply undone, unification should be nominal only.

I really doubt that China will send more warship to Europe since it is likely that sooner or later, Russia will join, unless Turkey (or NATO) does something politically. Besides, Japan's maritime self-defense force, along with the USN 7th Fleet is enough to counter China's PLAN.
I never understood the word counter here.

So if all Chinese naval force left for somewhere else, US is just going to attack? If not what does it matter where they are.

Going to Greece is more of a training exercise than a real strategic deal at this point. Get comfortable going that far, and get accustomed to the waters.

Stationing ships is unnecessary, and a real overestimation of PLAN at this point. Baby steps, one step at a time, before you know it blue water navy.

This event will piss off the NATO.

Greece will be warned and forced to limit or even cancell the naval exercises.

After reading Viet's comment, I think this is what he is thinking: if more China warships goes to Europe, PLAN has "less" warship in East Asia and is open for provocation from others, possibly thinking that China will have a naval station in that region.

As for Japan, since it has one of the most powerful navy in East Asia other than China and excluding the USN 7th fleet, any actions from both sides that is deemed as a threat to each other could lead to provocation. This would probably be good for a few and bad for many.

I can't say about Vietnam navy though as I am not aware of their capabilities.

Kurds will be free.
Turkey is collapsing.

What is your problem ? more correctly what is the problem of Chinese with Turks as I see a general hostility ? Turkey was never hostile with China, we are not even close, I heard they teach Turkey negative in schools because of kinship with Uyghurs, may be thats the case.

Vietnam's best ship is about as good as our type 56, our most expandable ship that will number around 100 once the decade closes. Vietnam has 3 or 6, forgot.

And in terms of provocation, would the chance decrease as more of our navy are far from our shores and thus unable to even be there?

.
Yup.

Turkey is the primary breeding ground of Islamic terrorist groups. The regime in Turkey funds these jihadi groups through the Turkish army and intelligence services.

Turkey and Saudi Arabia are the 2 biggest state sponsors of terror.
This has been proven multiple times.

Care to bring these "proofs" ?

I doubt it, it would even likely give the other country more ideas make provoking moves, increasing the risks.

so what are you saying China should be strong?

But seriously, the ratio of ships around the oil rig is 95+ to 5. With most of our ships far bigger, a lot of them at least double in size.

In terms of Japan, well the US is there to keep China safe, so doesn't really matter if we have one or one hundred.

Would the Philippines make a move?

It is up to your politicians if they want China to be strong or not without appearing as a threat to others in Asia-Pacific however, I don't agree with China's claim on some islands in SCS but I would disagree in a way that is at least civilized unlike the others here.

As for the Philippines, it would do something such make a statement our bring the case to an international court but moving hardware? I doubt it as our navy is not large nor modernize and we have more internal problems to deal with.

It's been proven many times on this forum in different threads. Turks are full of radicals that support terror for religious reasons.
Turkish regime is a sponsor of these terrorist groups.

Are you serious ? Turks are most secular and less religious Muslims in this forum, in fact, many other radicals treat us like infidels :D
