Greece proposes joint navy warship patrols with Chinese

. .
An affair between two sovereign nations. Greece can serve a good spring board for China to increase presence in Eastern Europe/Balkans. Besides, the recovery in Greece will open up many opportunities for the Chinese companies to occupy large market shares and take part in development projects. As for tourism, Chinese venture-capitalists may think of buying out property to turn them around and make profitable business.

Its not only a good news for China but also for Vietnam, Japan and Philippines. The more warships Chinese send to Europe the less they have for Asia. I think the NATO will begin to question chinese intention, especially the arch enemy of Greece: Turkey.

In light of that, greek interest to hosting chinese warships becomes apparent. A turk response will come. Inevitable.

I really doubt that China will send more warship to Europe since it is likely that sooner or later, Russia will join, unless Turkey (or NATO) does something politically. Besides, Japan's maritime self-defense force, along with the USN 7th Fleet is enough to counter China's PLAN.

The Greeks are no doubt taking advantage of this situation; free Abrams from the Americans and investments from the Chinese.
Nobody is against China investment, economic tie and cultural exchanges. But if China begins sending warships, things will soon get ugly. Greece and Turkey are hostile to each other. The Mediterranean sea is a NATO domain.

I don't think it would be threat to the Greeks for the Chinese to send naval ships there, its more of an act of symbolism, really. For the longest time China has remained concerned about waters in its immediate vicinity: The South China Sea, the Sea of Japan, Taiwan Straits. So the significance of China and the Greek Navy cooperating in naval exercise would be seen as an ascendancy towards Blue Water Capability in action. Of course, one has to analyze the strategic significance and consequence of such an action. This pertains to both Greece and China in the immediate region. No doubt this would be seen as a concern for Turkey.

People getting unrealistic...

Do you guys aware that Greece is a NATO country ??? And here some people talking about Stationing Chinese warships in East Europe.
Do you think those whites will really care about your interests? they just use turkey as a shield to defend the first wave of Russia attack.
Greece is our most trust partner in Europe, providing a stronghold for China. It is apparent China and Russia will join hand to deal with turks under SCO.
