Reforms actually. Every bureaucracy is designed to work under the main driving force(in this case political leadership). However, the current structure of our bureaucracy was designed to work under a combination of British monarchy + consortium of traders.
So we better study our own needs and devise our own type of bureaucracy that completes/compliments us.

When i feel down i feel the same way. The truth is though - revolution will deliver nothing. Look where it has happened. All the thieving elite class fled with their wealth, the people fought amongst themselves, warlords willing to favour external influencers took over - creating a new elite class.

Change will come through people like us. It will take 1 shop, 1 wholesaler, with the courage not to participate in speculative pricing. It'll take 1 shop to have compettive fixed prices. It'll take 1 resturant to have world class health and hygiene standards, it'll take 1 office to put employees ahead of immediate profit maximisation. It'll spread. If @Hiraa has a rubbish gym manager, then maybe someone will create a gym with excellent management.

One by one we'll create a better standard, we'll create an expectation and suddenly the market will re-baseline at that new standard. If you can get a careem or an uber cheaper than a local taxi, honestly who takes a local taxi? Nobody. If you can get a top quality Airbnb who books into a 3 star hotel? If you can trust your sabzi wala to deliver produce to your door of the same quality you'd have hand picked yourself - who needs to go to the market?

At some point this population will elect an MNA or someone else who they will hold to a high standard. If that person fails to deliver, they'll only elect someone else who will uphold the same standard. That is how change will happen.

That might have been true 20 years ago, but is not true today. There are still some chutiya people who don't work and claim benefits and defraud the benefits system, but most people work hard, even if they do milk the benefits system on the side.

People seem to have this idea that the benefits system is rivers of milk and honey - it's not. You have to compromise your faith and your lifestyle for a few hundred pounds a month.

Of all the people I know under 50, everyone works (apart from 2 guys who are bums). The only people not in work in that age range is women who are full time mothers, and that is a most noble thing. People are busy trying to better themselves, everyone of the professional class i know has a day job and an attempt to earn money on the side or investment.

It's a culture where people want to be successful, see opportunities and roadmaps to success and so they follow them. In Pakistan there is no culture of hardwork leading to success.

look around roadmaps to success ............. army’s commercial wings, namely the Fauji (Army) Foundation, the Shaheen Foundation, the Bahria Foundation, the Army Welfare Trust and the Defense Housing Authorities, owned around 50 business concerns and housing property worth over $20 billion. Three years later, this number now runs into the hundreds of businesses with net investment reportedly exceeding $100 billion.

It's not about the people. Its the system which inherently lacks the ability to compell people to work. The same people when go abroad work like machines. The present Pakistani system promotes a culture of corruption, nepotism and slavery. It needs to be changed.
