I second your opinion , if it was not for democracy our poor people would have been increasingly gripped with no sense of belonging to state, it's good that we take them in our fold by various means like reservations and occasional economical stimulus to fulfill their basic requirements or say aspirations as in this case .

But I agree timing is not proper since we are going threw worst GDP growth of the last decade and rupee regularly hits all time low every alternate day.

As our education penetrates our population deeper and we become more mature ,finally democracy will start yielding good results.Till then we have no choice but to suffer from side effects of democracy.

Singapore style governance model and US-style republic structure governing this model.

People are having social freedom to live their daily lives, have the discipline to not create chaos and they fear the law enough not to commit a crime.

On the governance side, the president has power enough to make fast decisions, is accountable to a senate and at the same time there is zoo of political parties and coalition.

Two political national parties with regional factions that raise concerns of different regions.
