Govt monitoring China's arms sales to Pak: Krishna

New Delhi:

The government is "closely" monitoring the sale of arms to Pakistan by China, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said on Wednesday.

Along with the statement, also came the assurance that there was peace and tranquillity at India China border.

"All these developments are closely monitored by the External Affairs Ministry, by the Defence Ministry and various other ministries and the Prime Minister. So, let us not get into yet another speculative area," he said.

He was replying to a query on China selling arms to Pakistan and if this would lead to an arms race in the region. China had recently sought to defend its sale of submarines and warships to Pakistan, contending that even India was seeking military equipment from US and Russia.

Maintaining that India desires to maintain peace and tranquillity along the Sino-India border, Krishna said "I have said and I would like to repeat again in the dying days of 2009 that India China border is peaceful, they are tranquil. It is India's desire to maintain peace and tranquillity at our borders and we will continue to do that".

If you were PM/FM of Pakistan and India buys something what will you do, ignore the news?

Are You sure it's Buying or it's Begging. Most of the time Pakistan do that. that's why u see how many country giveing their weopens to Pakistan instade of china.
First Us stop to giveing it as it's intrest in pakistan gone.
China will do the same thing in future be prepair for that.

And ya now in this days i see many pakistani Foram menber use China as their shild against India. same like in past they used US as their shild. but this thing dont work.

BTW, every govt use to do the same thing. They keep an eye on the activities in neighbouring, hostile or even friendly nations. This is one of the task for intelligence agencies.

Just for example, some countries cried like babies when Indo-US nuclear was signed. So why single out India. It would be naive to think that other nations do not do this. In context of Pakistan and China, we had wars with these countries therefore it is obvious that these all countries try to gather the information about others.

We have no desire to match your acquisitions one on one.All we want is to maintain a credible deterrence by buying just enough. All it means , which. if you look at it the way that I do, is that you should be thankful to us, as not doing so means we do not lower our nuclear threshold.
