Google's Pichai speaks out for Muslims after Trump's Islamophobia

Adding a strong voice against the growing notes of intolerance against Muslims in the U.S., Google's CEO Sundar Pichai has written about his experience as an immigrant from India 22 years ago and how he flourished because of the tolerance of the American society.

Business tycoon Donald Trump, who is a top runner for the Republican Party presidential candidature, had recently called for closing the U.S. to Muslim immigrants. The U.S. is set to take in a large number of Syrian refugees.

In a blog post titled "Let’s not let fear defeat our values", on Medium.com, Mr. Pichai says: "The open-mindedness, tolerance, and acceptance of new Americans is one of the country’s greatest strengths and most defining characteristics."

He writes that the mix of voices and cultures and the presence of different people with different perspectives was what made Google an exciting and special place to work. "I firmly believe that whether you’re building a company or leading a country, a diverse mix of voices and backgrounds and experiences leads to better discussions, better decisions, and better outcomes for everyone," he adds.

He finds statements that say "our country would be a better place without the voices, ideas and the contributions of certain groups of people, based solely on where they come from, or their religion" extremely disheartening, without making any direct references to Mr. Trump.

He also speaks of his own internal debate whether to write about the issue, as it could just fuel the fire, but concludes that "I feel we must speak out — particularly those of us who are not under attack."

In this age you cannot bar people based on religion, caste and race. Trump could have proposed more stringent checks than out right ban of Muslims into US.

I just asked you who supports this all? we don't support the discrimination against any group of people. It's not teaching of Islam. And I don't know why your keep comparing one state to another. Situation in USA its otally different. This state is based on equality and if one group is being oppressed and not given the equality. It's a huge problem then. It's a stupid idea to not give American Muslims their rights, because non Muslims are not given rights in Muslims countries. (PS: this is happening on minor scale). Do you really want to compare USA with other states? Then why don't you compare USA with Syria? Palestine? Iran? Iraq? Did not take you too long to show your true colors and blame America.for Islamic dictators and what they created to contribute to where their countries are now. That is why I said your country and motherland is Pakistan not the U.S. Why pretend where the heart and mind lies. I'm fine with it as long as you follow it and leave us alone.

Secondly, when you perceived your rights were at risk( ALA "mere words" from Trump)- and mind you they have not been affected in anyway- you were quick to call for non discrimination conversation among all. But in the case where there exists a major not minor discrimination AKA in your motherland against non muslims; your reaction was to be dismissive by calling it a minor discrimination. There is nothing minor about your muslims making it constitutionally permissible to discriminate in multiple laws, making it constitutionally permissible to put a man/ woman on death row because of blasphemy laws aimed at minorities, not allowing non muslims the right to hold certain positions because of their religion, having different set of rules on property rights etc etc.

I'll end with this instead of going round and round stating the obvious anymore- You have nothing to say,never have I read you or others standing up for those ' ACTUAL' discriminations in place.

As far as I know Pichai is not a Muslim. Let me tell you non Muslims were more vocal in opposing Trumps statement than any of the Muslims.

The media is a force within itself. Most people dont care to do their own research even though it is in the palm of their iPhones and Galaxies, they are content with CNN/Fox/MSNBC/CBS.

As far as non-muslims go, yes it's true they have a more powerful force behind their words. Mark Zuckerberg's and Bill Gate's words out power mine, but are no less important.
