Give & take : After KSA request Pak devising its own wish list

Popcorn time ... GCC sanctions on India. oooohhhh ... so scary ... lol

GCC sanctions on Indians employed there ... ooohhh ... even more scary. What exactly is GCC going to do to these employees? Jail them? torture them? send them back to India?

You guys need to get a life and try to figure out how the world works. I am really keen to know which GCC insignificant state has the guts to fck with India.

So whats wrong with that ? Give n take its a new policy.

Nothing wrong.

But this news article needs to be bookmarked for future reference when Pakistanis complain about how they were dragged into a war that they didn't want to get involved in and a conflict that was not even theirs - a la Afghanistan!

Give and take: After Saudi requests, Pakistan devising its own wish-list - The Express Tribune

ISLAMABAD: After senior Saudi officials in Riyadh requested a high-powered Pakistani delegation both ‘material and manpower’ to tackle Houthi rebels attempting to gain control of Yemen, the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is mulling over what to ask Saudi Arabia in return.

The request was made during a two-day visit that ended on April 1. Pakistan’s wish list would be shared with Saudi authorities in the next round of talks, sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune.

While the top civil-military leadership of Pakistan is said to have decided joining the regional alliance along with Turkey to support the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm, the Nawaz-led government is trying to work out how the country could benefit from the alliance.

Riyadh is said to have asked for Pakistani troops as well as fighter jets and navy vessels for logistic support. Though the Pakistani authorities have not turned down the request, they are weighing their options for fulfilling it, said the sources.

They said the government would seek the approval of parliament for dispatching troops, but it would not enter the regional alliance without Turkey.

On a day-long visit to Turkey on Friday as part of his consultations with the brotherly countries on the Yemen conflict, Nawaz and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu said they were willing to work together for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

Sources said both the premiers also discussed the possible outcomes of their decision to join the Saudi-led military operation.

Saudi Arabia, the biggest buyer of Al-Khalid tanks, which were jointly developed by Pakistan and China, would be offered more materials for sale, said the sources. The Pakistan Air Force is also expected to negotiate a deal on combat aircraft JF-17 Thunder.

Regarding the Saudi request of gaining control of a swathe of land in Yemen and holding it until peace is restored in the country, the sources said the civil-military leadership has decided to join the military operation and not to take control of any single area.

Regarding the Special Services Group’s support to Saudi forces, the sources said the duration of their deployment would be for a short span, between two and three years, adding that if their services are required for a longer period of time, relevant conditions would be incorporated in the draft that Pakistan would put before the Saudi authorities.

About economic benefits for the country, the sources said the Pakistani authorities were interested in receiving sureties from Saudi Arabia at the forum of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on some important issues. They said that if Pakistan joins the Saudi forces, then the GCC should ensure that when Pakistan feels threatened by India, then the GCC would not only slap restrictions on Indian employees working in the region but also support Pakistan on many fronts.

This is beyond hilarious. .For one, when has pakistan not felt threatened by India? second, India has much deeper relations with the ME than a rental force, third, it would be foolish of the Gulf countries to ignore a growing power with possibly the future largerst muslim population in favor of a failed one.
Fifth, If India was foolish enough like our neighbor it would take a side and Indian navy could end the conflict in Yemen in a fortnight...Thankfully we aren't.

You underestimate the KSA's influence and strength, along with Pakistan's backing of it. The Saudis may not stop India from doing business in the kingdom, but they will downgrade their relationship, if it means that Pakistan backs their plans for a ground offensive.

It remains to be seen, that's simply a back up plan to lower any sort of Saudi anger.

I am not sure if any other Indian memeber what they feel...If really Pakistan has the guts to pur pressure on SA to stop Indian employees from going to Arab, this will be a blessing in diguise of India..India can easily and swiftly has an execuse to start importing most of the oils from Iran who is comparatively a friendly nation for us than the Gulf nations and also, it is always better to have alternate employment nations for Indian Muslims rather than going to Gulf...

So just hoping to see, when would Pakistan is putting up the proposal, and waiting for Gulf nations to bar Indian people going to Arab nations to do all these low paying jobs..

I don't understand, after spending billions and trillion of dollars to acquire all kinds of latest military hardware, why KSA needs Pakistan's assistance in Yemen? Are they so incapable to defeat bunch of thugs with all that might? I would suggest that Pakistan should only assist if KSA is willing to share part of their equipment with Pakistan or pay enough for latest hardware to equip all services of Pakistan with such as several squadrons for PAF, ships and submarines for navy and whatever army needs.

The only thing that's worthwhile in pakistan at the moment is their army which is spread wafer thin throughout the length and breadth of their country..I hear that they have come up with a new term called civil military leadership (he hee) for their country where the army holds all the reins and the government is as useless as a puppet....the nawaz Sharif government views the army as their saviour who's doing a big favor to them by letting him be in power while the army is effectively running the whole country. .Karachi Balochistan kashmir fata sind etc is practically run by the army. Nawaz is a rubber stamp.

The point is..that the army has given the green signal in general to employ their soldiers for benefits from the Saudis. ..nawaz is quite eager to snd troops too. The present drama of parliament session is to gauge what kind of pay back they can extract from the Saudis and what kind of geopolitical gains they can extract by this.

The actual problem is that they aren't too bright. The near present gains of a few bucks is greater for them than the shit that they will come up their way with in the near future.

The hallmark of all rich Gulf nations is that they pay for others to do their dirty work.

Dying is also one of them.

Ha ha ....so much for the martial race theory and we can take on India anytime.......just shows how paranoid the Pak govt is with respect to India....

So, much claims of Indus Valley Civilization, son of soil.
Chanakya was born in Taxila, If Chanakya see diplomacy of Pakistan he would put his head under shame

If Pakistan can get assurance of sanctions on India if any conflict takes place, that will be a big win.

This will not happen. At least they should demand what is feasible. This showed that Pakistan is still India centric and does not want to come out of that state. More over this shows, the hatred in Pakistan against India. This will in return affect Pakistani diplomacy a lot. Such demands are really a suicide. As many Indian workers there are Muslims too.

More over, how did it get leaked?

^^^ I can very well understand that Pakistan would want some geo-political benefits by helping KSA and why not...however what I am not getting is what benefit will Pakistan get by getting Indian employees banned there?? This simply doesn't make sense...I am sure there must be something else and this is a mistake in the column...anyone??

We cant. Yemen is a desert, and the need to flush out rebels need ground troops. We cant go without knowing topology or exact intelligence. Other than Saudi and Oman, nobody knows Yemen perfectly.
If India's intervenes, it would be our version of Vietnam and Afghanistan.
