Srinagar, September 29 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has appreciated the assertion of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in the UN General Assembly wherein he stressed settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per the relevant resolutions of the World Body.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar asked the government of Pakistan to intensify its diplomatic efforts to highlight the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir on the international forums. The veteran leader said that he favoured the dialogue between Pakistan and India in principle and the two countries should concentrate on the core issue of Kashmir rather than mutual trade.

Syed Ali Gilani in his meeting with a delegation of Kashmiri Pundits at his residence in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the bulldozing of eighteen residential houses of the community by the puppet administration without any prior notice.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader, Javed Ahmad Mir, in a statement in Srinagar hailed the assertion of Nawaz Sharif as timely and realistic.

Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, addressing party activists at Magam in Badgam castigated the avowal of Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, in the UN General Assembly that Jammu and Kashmir was integral part of India. He said, Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory since 1947 and has never been a part of India.

Hurriyet leaders, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Farida Bahenji, Mir Shahid Saleem and Muhammad Farooq Rehmani also condemned Manmohan Singh’s remarks on Kashmir as devoid of historical facts.

On the other hand, Indian police re-arrested the illegally detained Hurriyet leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, after a court in Bandipore granted him bail in a false case registered against him. He was taken to Joint Interrogation Centre Humhama.

In New York, a large number of Kashmiris including women and children staged a demonstration in front of the UN building when Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, addressed the UN General Assembly. Shouting slogans like “We want freedom from India”, the demonstrators carried placards calling upon the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to implement the resolutions of the World Body that promised the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people.
