Ghani warns to close transit route for Pakistan to Central Asia

The sooner the Pashtun folks break away and join their original brethren in Pak the better. While joining they need to grab as much land as possible specially the important trade routes. They simply have no future with these Northern Aliance thugs. Creation of Pak means an eventual dissolution of Afganistan since an isolated Afganistan makes no sense and will always be a cause of trouble...

As I always said, the Pashtun areas and Wakhan Corridor should be merged with Pakistan. That should be 60-65%+ of Aghanistan (including the sparsely inhabited areas in the south):

Lots of negative emotions in ur post my friend, it's a tit for tat, no hard feelings ;)

You can watch the tits, you can't take the tat. A country as run down as Afghanistan, instead of becoming an Indian puppet, you should strive to grow your own nation and work hard to get your people educated, and build the country. The Soviet's didn't really invade you on Pakistan's orders. This is a dangerous game and sadly, your country's been on a loosing streak for like 5 decades now. Shouldn't your leaders trying to bridge the gaps, and work towards increasing economic growth and productivity inside Afghanistan, so this extremism, terrorism and all can go away one day? Just saying. The people of Afghanistan deserve a better life and they aren't necessarily born to live in caves or in mud built homes. But your leaders have to let go of the Opium shiit and work hard to grow the nation.....may be one day?

I know you're fan of Afghan Onion ;)

Afghan Onion‏@AfghanOnion
We welcome President Ghani's decision to block our access to Central Asia, our Taliban defense forces will respond in kind. --@AsimBajwaISPR

Yes Afghans are onions indeed, they are smelly they make every Country cry over their filthy habits where ever they go and live. And they stink when they open their mouth because of their hypocrisy.

it is hard when their neighbor is trying to take them to the stone ages

Northern Alliance includes the Turkmens

And what are you going to export to Central Asia through China? Do you even know anything about surface transport costs per km especially by road?
I used to hear that statement many times in a day.....If you are a rational poster then please first verify it ...I have no problem with that fact
.
Sea route > Train route > Land route
.
....BUT there is a little catch in it.....If sea route spread across 12000 km Vs land route that can only take 3000 Km to reach the destiny....then which options suits best....

----Some other Aspects
Being lazy Guy (like me) answering you :flood:...without any supportive links...kindly bear me again for a moment............a few years ago I come to know that in some research column ....Chinese are Investing their Hard earned money in Electric Trains that can outpace all type of modern land locomotives...In addition to it....they won't consume OIL that wants constant Import bills with extra chain of Transportation of Oil to all over the country.......
.
So....what they Did??
.
They implemented Innovative Scheme of Electric Train to spread out in all over the country that cost only "ELECTRICITY".....and generating the desired amount of electricity is not a problem nowadays....So without rejecting your Theory above....new tunes of modern decade will dictate us in following way

Train route > Sea route > Land route

it is hard when their neighbor is trying to take them to the stone ages

Which neighbor? Russia, Iran or Pakistan? Then there is a neighbor of Pakistan that's spreading so mush terror there to take them to the stone age, but despite the mass ,murders of their little school going children, they ARE taking their country forward and soon will compete with India in labor. Watch how that turns out for you . That's the spirit.

Now why can't Afghans have the same spirit to grow their country and get off the Opium pipe and help their people in leaving cave-homes and actually find better life through economic growth??

ISLAMABAD:

Kabul has threatened to shut the Afghan transit route for Pakistani exports to Central Asia if Islamabad does not allow Afghan traders to use Lahore’s Wagah border for trade with India.
“If Pakistan does not allow Afghan traders to use the Wagah border for imports and exports of their goods, Afghanistan will also not allow Pakistan to use Afghan transit routes to reach Central Asia and other countries for exports,” President Ashraf Ghani said in a meeting with UK’s special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Owen Jenkins in Kabul. “Afghanistan is no more a landlocked country as it has many transit routes for the import and export of goods,” Ghani added, according to a Pashto-language statement posted on Friday by the president’s website.

The remarks came amid tension between the two uneasy neighbours over several issues and particularly in the backdrop of Pakistan’s decision to introduce a new mechanism at its Torkham border that requires every Afghan to carry passport and visa for crossing the border.

“Pakistan has always shut its routes on Afghanistan’s fresh fruit, causing loss of millions of dollars to our traders,” the Afghan president said. He added that Afghanistan was making efforts to boost economic cooperation in the region and wanted Pakistan and other regional countries to remove all technical problems that create obstacles in economic cooperation.

When contacted, a Foreign Office official refused to comment on Ghani’s statement, saying a response will be given after due consultations.

Afghan officials said Kabul has long been demanding the use of Pakistan’s land route to deliver goods at the Indian border town of Attari via Wagah. However, Pakistan is reluctant to grant such permission in view of the state of its relations with New Delhi.

Afghan sources insist that Afghan goods, mostly fresh fruits go up to Wagah but then it is not allowed to go up to Attari. “It is offloaded in Wagah and then carried in carts up to Attari and loaded on again. This adds to transportation cost as well as to a significant spoilage,” an Afghan source said.

“We have asked that our goods mostly fresh fruit be allowed to go up to Attari and then transferred to Indian trucks in a back to back arrangement. This alone can reduce cost and spoilage to an extent that will make our export of fruit to India double or triple,” he said.

Ghani also obliquely accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism, saying the recently organised and well-coordinated terrorist attacks showed that the terrorists receive aid from outside.

“Support to the terrorist groups is an action contrary to the good neighbourhood and all international norms and action of the neighbouring country is no more acceptable to the people and gov’t of Afghanistan,” he was quoted as saying.

“We will use diplomatic channels to stop all efforts to destabilise Afghanistan through terrorist groups. I want our message should be conveyed to Pakistan,” the Afghan leaders further said.

On his part the British envoy said his country will support the Afghan-led intra-Afghan dialogue and will keep on efforts along with the regional countries. Pakistani officials say repatriation of the refugees could gain momentum and that many would return this and next year.

Thats why I said we need an alternative to Afghanistan in which china could lease us some land to connect to Tajikistan directly. But Mods removed my post cause they found it ridiculous. Afghanistan will always create trouble on all the projects which will come through it. TAPI, Electric transmission lines and trade etc.

Just read today's DAWN, CPEC is already being connected with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan via Xiaoping. Aim is to circumvent and bypass Afghanistan, thereby cutting off any connection and compounding this country's, already visible, economic irrelevance to this region.

"Pakistan is reportedly considering other routes as well for reaching Tajikistan, bypassing the war-ravaged Afghanistan.

There are plans for getting Chinese help in linking China-Pakistan Economic Corridor with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan as well as Corridor 5&6 of CAREC (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation), which will establish connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asia."

You nailed it sir, Pakistan has nearly three times the number of Pushtuns in Afghanistan. Afghan/Pushtun is an ethnicity, "A" in PAKISTAN is for Afghania (old name of KPK), there is no need for a separate Afghanistan, when majority of Pushtuns are citizens of Pakistan and proud Pakistanis , Pakistan's second biggest ethnic group and contributing significantly to military and civilian corridors of power in Pakistan. Pakistan should officially change its policy and start claiming eastern and southern Afghanistan, being a country where more than three times Pushtuns exist as compared to Afghanistan, this is Pakistan's right.

...Since when one country can send other to stone ages....Enlighten Enlighten Enlighten!!!!

We should do with Afghanistan what you did with Nepal....Complete blockade. Pakistan shouldn't have opened Chaman border in first place....

I hope afgans won't take this decision back what I'm thinking they spit then lick

Russia is not their neighbor. The old Soviet Union was.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander ? You find Taliban ideology suitable for Afghanistan but not for Pakistan

Nepal does not shelter terrorists. Nepali refugees are not fleeing their country.
Nepal might be poor. they are a peaceful place to live.

May be Pakistan could learn a thing or two from Nepal ?

Unless Indians learn something, first from Nepal, Pakistan won't learn....This is hard fact...

Nope....Iran, CARS, Russia, Turkey will be joining soon....Just wait and watch....

Pakistan has multiple options to reach central Asia:
1) Through Iran (readily available, given agreement is there)
2) Through China (may need infrastructure development)
3) Through Afghanistan (security risk anyway, but in future non indian stooge regime will make it mutually beneficial)

Again as staged earlier, this isn't a surpise. As Chabahar Port comes online all afghan trade will be rerouted. The Kabul concensus is to redirect all trade through Chabahar. Only minor border trade (I.e. Cigarette smuggling) will exist between afghan/pak

The best bet is on China, given our relations...

We will be so happy if that happens...

Mr Ghani please do so, we are anxiously waiting for your closure
