Germany's Last Remaining WW2 Knights Cross Recipients Hold Meeting Amid Threats

While these men were indeed warriors but what they fought for was far from honourable. As @Desertfalcon has pointed out whatever failings the present German Republic has cannot compare to the evil regime in Berlin that was the cause of deaths on a scale hitherto unknown and probably never to be matched.

All I can say is .....

We are honouring individual soldiers, not a regime here.

Individual warriors of the "enemy" side (as despicable as actions of leader/regime may be) are given much tribute in the ancient Indian epics for example....and also seen in Homer's works, Gilgamesh and other old works too...I think we should continue at least this thread into the modern world, given all the other noble threads we are losing with each passing moment as we are beset by sheer gluttony and materialism.

I wouldn't say the same about the SS,the Einsatzgruppen and what else.

Not all SS units were heinous. Some actually refused to follow distasteful orders given to them. It depended on the field commander and sometimes even the mid rank officers.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...lies-search-SS-officer-saved-thier-lives.html

http://www.annefrank.dk/Gerstein/index.htm

To this day, my friends grandmother (Ukrainian lady) has not a bad word to say about the Germans, especially the SS. They treated her fairly and she noticed the SS had much greater overall discipline as well.

The field units certainly overall ran their affairs with high professionalism and honour overall ( there were exceptions of course).

You are correct the other elements of the SS (death units like Einsatzgruppen) had much innocent blood on their hands and really are not worthy to have the SS title to them imho. They have definitely brought shame and much dishonour to the SS and Germany as a whole. The excuse of "just following orders" does not hold up, I always judge on the actions and evidence period.

.
We are honouring
Frankly, I was being coy and apologetic about this subject. I don't care how good, or how honourable they were. In my view they were willingly, knowingly, supporting a evil edifice. I struggle to place honour and these men in one sentance. It is ridiculous to believe that thes men, some in very high positions of command did not know what was being done - they were not robots. Hitler fought for 5 years. Right to the last minute these people kept on fighting.

It is so easy to place the entire blame on a few faces and excuse the entire nation. I know it has to be done but lets not run away from the reality. Every German fighting was at some level complicit. They could have mutinied. They could have launched a coup - it was not that Hitler was some superman. Instead they fought, fought for a evil cause that brought death and destruction across all over Europe and further.

Indeed what these b*astards did reverbrates today as innocent Palestinians are living as refugees on account of what the Germans did. The Nazi Empire Final Solution created two evils. The death of millions of Jews which helped to push huge numbers as refugees to Palestine thus laying the seeds of Palestine/israel conflict. so in a sense what these people did is still causing grief and death.

F*ck em I say.

Honour? Yes. Honour these men who opposed evil .....

How were they any more an "evil edifice" than those they fought against? USSR, UK, US et. al....you telling me these for 100's of years prior and most likely 100s of years after have "less" blood and evil on their hands?

When you bring up "edifice" talk, you better be prepared to not pickaxe just one of them.

.
Very true. Certain units of the Waffen SS did commit horrendous crimes and they were held to account for that, but regrettably so were other Waffen SS units as well who were mainly front line units, not Camp guards or rear police units that took part in murdering innocent civilians.

Keep in mind that the SS was a 1 million man strong army of its own and only about 200,000 (don't remember the exact number off the top of my head so don't quote me on this, however the number was somewhere around that) of its members were from Germany proper while the rest were mostly volunteers from various nationalities.

Interesting. There were Germans in Indonesia?

Yes, since we were part of the Axis forces during the Japanese occupation. Although the Nazis are fewer in numbers compared to IJA, the Nazi influence is as well spread as Nazi party branches formed locally by walther hewel

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walther_Hewel

Some of the Germany u-boat wreckage also discovered in 2013.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2511249/Nazi-U-boat-sunk-Second-World-War-discovered-divers-Indonesia--complete-skeletons-doomed-crew.html

There were some rumors about Hitler sightings in Indonesia as well.

javaisbeautiful.com/2012/05/29/hitler-grave-in-surabaya/

And of course, the Nazi cafe/soldaten kaffe

There were some rumors about Hitler sightings in Indonesia as well.

I for one do believe that Hitler commited suicide in the bunker from the evidence I have gathered.

But the strongest alternate "theory" to this is that he managed to escape to South America in a U-boat....apparently there are several towns there that have eye-witnesses and such that have seen him around interior Argentina and then moving to Paraguay and dieing of natural causes in the early 1970s. There is some evidence of this, but its not as strong as the bunker evidence I feel given most of it relies on hearsay and rumor.

.
"U.S.S.R.: 20 million deaths; China: 65 million deaths; Vietnam: 1 million deaths; North Korea: 2 million deaths; Cambodia: 2 million deaths: Eastern Europe: 1 million deaths; Latin America: 150,000 deaths; Africa: 1.7 million deaths; Afghanistan: 1.5 million deaths; The international Communist movement and Communist parties not in power: about 10,000 deaths… The total approaches 100 million people killed."
These people, unlike the jews, are not mourned by any of the so-called liberals.
You won't see the likes of them condemning Israel or their own governments for any of their wrong doings.

Obama's drone policy leads to the death of more than 4000 innocent people(in the 21st century) and he gets a noble peace prize. This world is f**ked, these people can get away with any kind of mass murder, after all, they are the good guys fighting the baddies.

The video below is worth a watch. See how their media shoves its narrative down the throats of the public....

These men are living legends from an age long gone. The Germany they fought for was drastically different from the cucked, self hating, self immolating one today. Sadly, these brave men who gave their all for their people had to come together in secret. Apparently, in Germany, the antifa subhumans and the current German regime they serve are eager to attack these 90-something-year-old men.

Now under the boot of the current German regime, these men must live in the shadows like criminals, while all sorts of refuse do everything from rape random women in the street to erecting giant dildos in the middle of Berlin and calling it “art.” Their genuine stories of heroism and hardship are suppressed and censored so the German people will never know that their grandfathers were some of the greatest warriors the world has ever seen. Sadly, they will soon be gone and many will not know their stories.

This weekend I had the remarkable opportunity to attend a very unusual event. The Knight’s Cross association of Germany were meeting in secret to carry out an Act of Remembrance. It was attended by a group of very elderly veterans who are among the most highly decorated men in Hitler’s Third Reich.

It was a secret event because it was feared that people may try to disrupt the event as has happened in the past.

Interviews will be featured on Dan Snow’s History Hit podcast and video of them will soon be posted here.

To win a Knights Cross means you have performed conspicuous gallantry on three separate occasions. You basically win an iron cross second class, then first class. Then a knights cross. So unlike systems like the U.K. or US you get a higher medal not for the particular circumstances of the act of valour but for the number of times it was performed.

Around 7300 knights crosses were given out during WW2. Only 20 of those men are still alive. Apparently four of them were in attendance this weekend. Together with a few Iron Cross winners.

The man who invited me is Gunter Halm. He single handedly repelled a British tank attack in North Africa in 1941. For that and other engagements he was awarded the Knights Cross. He was the youngest recipient in the Wehrmacht at the time. It was hung round his neck by Rommel himself.

Among the men I met here was:
Ludwig Bauer a man credited with 46 tank kills. He fought in Barbarossa. Moscow. Kursk. Normandy. Falaise Gap. Bulge. Defence of the Reich.

Hugo Broch. Luftwaffe ace with 83 confirmed kills. He told me that the me 109 was the best plane of the war.

Ernst Buntgens, horrifically wounded on the eastern front

Karl Konig. Fought in 21 panzer in North Africa against the British, New Zealanders and Americans.

This last man Ernst Bloch, is especially tough. He was shot through the eye and lost pieces of his brain to sniper fire. He was given hours to live by the doctor who saw him.

He’s in his 90’s now.

I have no sympathy for Hitler and i think he got what was coming. However i find it utterly disgusting that these men who served their country and answered the call of duty are now blamed for the terrible decisions of a sick moron who ruled over them, and what's worst is that its their own people and government who are doing the shaming and witch hunting of these men.

The Nazis were no more vile and evil than any allied government of that time. In fact Hitler derived his inspiration of the "lebensraum" from America's expansion during the "Manifest Destiny" and Britain's global Imperialism (which the Americans have now inherited).

I think Germany has more than atoned for its wrongs during that war. When will the Allies atone for theirs?

I don't know who wrote this, but it is a classic example of hate ideology. A fascist ideology.

In the 30s and 40s the Nazi regime called the gypsies, the Jews and other 'lower' races subhumans. It was a loathsome expression coined by a loathsome regime.

And now the writer wants to use it on his opponents? Does he even understand the historical connotation of calling someone else subhuman?

Ironically, the article is a criticism of the person who is writing it, not he people he thinks he is criticising.

Two other points.

One, try using this expression -subhumans- in public and openly in the West among decent people. See what happens.

Two, I am surprised the mods have missed this point. Almost all brown skinned people are subhuman according to this ideology that is being espoused in an underhanded manner.

.... The one they fought for was run by an evil ideology and led by one of the most vile mass murderers in history. The one they fought for shoved 12 million people into gas chambers. The Germany they fought for invaded all their neighbours and caused one of the bloodiest wars in human history.

I’d rather have today's democratic Germany with freedom, respect for human dignity, and the rule of law, over Hitler's Germany, any day.

Well said.

I described antifa as subhumans. And i have no regrets. Now you can cry a river about it for all i care. No apologies.

They can get away with mass murder because they are the victors and they control the narrative. It's that simple.

They can invade, destroy, kill, maim, rape and pillage as many countries as they want in the name of spreading "freedom" & "democracy" but the Liberals will continue to cheer them on.

The video below is worth a watch. See how their media builds shoves its narrative down the throats of the public....
These people depend on the media to do their thinking for them which is why i'm not surprised at their ignorance of facts. Nobody reads books anymore let alone a two-three page article (average Westerner has a very short attention span) to dig for the truth on their own.

True, the bunker incident has more credibility as Hitler's personal adjutant (can't recall his name) witnessed the suicide (obviously not in Hitler's bunker room itself) when the gun shot rang out and the burning of the bodies.

i won't resort to your juvenile attacks, because it is a sign of a weak argument at best. If you come back with reasoning that reflects that you have done some basic research- far less reading one or two pamphlets here and there - we can talk.

I don't know who you are in real life but until your arguments reflect knowledge extracted from deeper understanding and extensive reading, your statements simply portray a teenager who's just discovered the martial world of Nazi Germany, and thinks he is the only person who's ever understood that world, glories in it and imagines himself doing the goose step. Just silliness.

the second you passed judgement on me like a Fascist (ironically) for having differing views you lost any chance for constructive dialogue. I'm not gonna waste my time.

Selecting what facts to choose is reflection of our agenda, I am not disputing most of the 'facts' you posit. I am not saying that Nazi Germany was evil and Allies were angels. Life is never so binary but given the choice between the two I am glad my previous generations fought against the Nazi regime and wore the Allied uniforms even if that side was far from perfect. I think you know the views held by Churchill but I know the thrust that Allies representated prevailed and evolved to the present order.

I dare say had the Nazi's prevailed the world would have been differant. If you are a Pakistan or anybody else less than a pure Nordic (they must be sub 0.001 in the Pakistani population pool) then you would be consigned to be decalred as inferior by law. This so called liberalism that you despise has given people like you at least same rights as the so called superior races.

Of course I am. This a question of reasoning not liberalism. Now you may belong to that 2% or less of the population of Pakistan that might pass the Nazi test of Aryan supremacy. If so fine. However if your the other 98% I would be concerned about you mental health simply on the grounds that why would you extol something that would have declared you a sub-human?

Now I know racism was rrampant in the Allied side also - we know what Churchill did to those Indian Bengali/Bihari but it was not systemic and as ingrained as it was within the very DNA of Nazi Germany - which is why the extreme right wing love Hitler. Take care if you ever get invite to their events or you will get disabused of any sorrow you might have for those of that thought.

Your not one of these are you?

Kalash-tribe-girl.jpg

In which case I can say your mental health is intact although your reasoning is badly flawed.

Nazi were as good or bad as any other imperial power. if most of the world is free it is mostly because of Germany.of course they did this unintentionally but it can not be ignored.

Famine in British India was as systemic as gas chambers of Nazis yet Churchill the modern hero of Britian.

Because they lost?

It's the same reason why Communism gets the same treatment. Because they lost.

The winners get to write the history books. The losers become hated and pathetic, not necessarily because they were more evil (which is relative anyway), but because they were incompetent enough to bet everything they had, and lose it all.

Like Sun Tzu said. If you fight, you have to win. If you lose... then even begging won't save you.
