Germany Warns U.S. Against Ceding Lead Role to China, Russia

The entire world is getting on fine without America, just see the Paris Climate Agreement.

Only 3 countries are not a part of the Paris Climate Agreement... the USA, Nicuargua, and Syria.

The climate agreement is a huge scam!

Trump is being attack by the cabal for not getting on the wagon. I'm no friend of Trump, but he is doing to great service to all for wreaking havoc on certain groups of people he knows very well. His big mistake is not to question the entire system as such, but maybe he doesn't want to end like JFK.

Russian influence is dangerous and needs to be countered. The only correct sided is the American side, the side of human rights, and not the side of oppression and disgusting lies. Russians are proven to be people who can not be trusted, who want to bring about world domination. The country needs to be broken into pieces, and Putin brought down, along with his Syrian and Irani buddies

What makes you say that?

yawn.

:omghaha:
As per my knowledge this EU project was from USA. Now Germans are seemed to be of the view ,as per above article, that they might have to reorient themselves according to the needs of new powers.

You guys have to understand that even the USA is a tool of the deep state, albeit the biggest tool. All the other NATO member are the smaller tools playing different role depending on what theatrical piece must be played to keep the sheep busy and distracted.
......and in line.

And how does he think to limit the influence? It seems to me that he want some form of sanctions, isolation and closed markets. Does not he see the obvious contradiction in his own words?
Does he really think that people of the world except for some Westerners like this "world" order?
It is not liberal world order. It is Pax Americana. But - America's post 1991 unipolar era is over or near its end.

Yet when we're talking about Nord Stream 2, they are quiet about 'Russian Influence'. Other countries are complaining about Nord Stream 2, because it would strengthen Russian influence in Europe.:omghaha:
https://www.usnews.com/news/busines...many-austria-slam-us-sanctions-against-russia

US liberal world order:
-US using depleted uranium against Afganistan
-US militarymen torturing Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib
-US concentration camp in Guantanamo
-US mass surveillance revealed by Edward Snowden
-US support for terrorism
-US stealing gold from the Ukraine
-US stealing works of arts from Iraq
-US coups to overthrew foreign governments including democratically elected ones

To limit Russian and Chinese influence ? Easier said than done !
This is the World according to some (Crimea should be green of course):

USA for years have been trying to limit Russian and Chinese influence. And what they achieved ? Russia regained Crimea without losing a single solder (and without killing a single solder), and there is nothing US can do about it. China is already second biggest economy in the world. Part of US establishment think that US is exceptional and indispensable. They don’t want to accept Russia and China as equals. But there is no way to stop Russia and China from developing. Sooner or later US will have to accept the fact that the world is multipolar.
Dogs bark, but the Russian and Chinese caravans move on.

But there is a risk that US will try to ignite a war in Europe like they ignited the Second World War (source), (source).
Or like England ignited the First World War (source).

Some politicians in Poland like Aleksander Jabłonowski, Grzegorz Braun, Janusz Korwin-Mikke or Zbigniew Stonoga warn against US attempts to ignite a war (source), (source), (source), (source).

Some Murikans think that the world revolves around the so called “USA”
The world does revolve around the U.S. I've been on vacation in San Francisco for almost a week now. There are people from almost every major country here. Many of them use or wear American products, from Nike to Apple IPhones. They check their American social media sites and listen to American music. An of course this extends to Hollywood movies, which dominate the box office on a weekly basis around the world. This is not what I "think", but what I observe. The world revolves around America, whether you notice it or not.

The US is a juggernaut in the control of the Zionist's. It has brought more death and destruction to the world than any other country. It has consistently invaded countries, and seen it fit to change the government of any country it desires, 'regime change'. How many countries has Russia invaded, and how many has the US?

Happy to see the end of pax Americana.

  • That would end the liberal world order, Schaeuble says
  • Merkel challenges Trump saying ‘I’m supporter of open markets’

European Finance Ministers Set To Discuss Greek Debt Burden At Eurogroup Meeting
Wolfgang Schaeuble, Germany’s veteran finance minister, urged the U.S. to limit Russian and Chinese influence or risk bringing about “the end of our liberal world order.”

The comments by Schaeuble, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet since she took office in 2005, are one of the strongest expressions of concern among European policy makers that President Donald Trump’s administration is disengaging the U.S. from its global role on trade, climate change and security. Europe and the U.S. must stand together at a difficult time, the minister said.

“I doubt whether the United States truly believes that the world order would be equally sound if China or Russia were to fill the gaps left by the U.S., and if China and Russia were simply given a free hand to dominate the spheres of influence that they have defined for themselves,” Schaeuble, 74, said in a speech at theAmerican Academy in Berlin, a think tank that promotes U.S.-German ties. “That would be the end of our liberal world order.”

Schaeuble’s remarks to an audience including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers came less than three weeks before Merkel hosts Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Group of 20 leaders for a potentiallydifficult summit in Hamburg.

Dependable No More
Merkel set the tone after meeting Trump at the Group of Seven summit in Sicily in May, saying reliable relationships “are to some extent over.” Her latest call for defending free trade came on Wednesday at a celebration of U.S.-German ties since World War II.

Protectionism and isolationism “impede innovation, and in the long run this is disadvantageous for everybody,” Merkel said at a Berlin event marking the 70th anniversary of the Marshall Plan, the postwar U.S.-funded initiative to rebuild Western Europe. “I’m a supporter of open markets.”

embraced as an ally in combating climate change. China was Germany’s biggest non-European trading partner last year, ahead of the U.S.

Trans-Atlantic View
Schaeuble, who helped negotiate German reunification that led to the European Union’s expansion to the east, drew a link between U.S. complaints aboutGermany’s trade surplus and the need to guarantee Europe’s security.

“It is surely in the United States’ own interest to ensure security and economic stability in its markets, both in Europe and around the world,” he said in his speech late Tuesday. “This is a basic precondition if the U.S. wants to increase its exports and cut its trade deficit.”

In another sign of shifting geopolitics, Merkel said Tuesday she’s open to discussing proposals for a joint euro-area budget, which French President Emmanuel Macron has backed.

Merkel Mandate
Comments by Merkel and Schaeuble, who also is Germany’s longest-serving member of parliament, carry additional weight as Europe’s biggest economy heads toward a national election on Sept. 24 where Merkel is seeking a fourth term.

Combined support for their Christian Democratic Union and its Bavarian ally, the Christian Social Union, increased 1 percentage point to 39 percent in a Forsa poll published Wednesday. The Social Democrats led by Martin Schulz, Merkel’s main challenger, declined 1 point to 23 percent. If the result is replicated on Election Day, Merkel would be set to stay in power, though she’d need a coalition partner as during her previous terms.

I haven't seen any evidence either Russia or China want to see anything bad in Europe or for that matter in the US. Who would like to disturb their market?

Double Speak and Triple Think... the Great Unfolding commenth

He is obviously in an attempt to utilize and incite the current fervent and unstable US government to do something reckless in the hope of plucking benefits. A souring China-US relations is a strategic gain for the EU.

As if the US trusted Germany or vice versa.

Let's hope he represents the extreme minority with limited power.

Germany Surveilled White House, US Defense Sector for Years

MILITARY & INTELLIGENCE

Snooping by Berlin’s federal intelligence service, the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND), targeted US entities all the way up to the State Department, the Department of the Treasury and even the White House, according to documents reviewed by Der Spiegel.

NSA-contractor-turned-whistleblower Edward Snowden’s leaks about US surveillance caused major embarrassment to the Obama administration when it was revealed in 2013 that the National Security Agency had been intercepting German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cellphone records. “Spying among friends, that isn’t done,” Merkel famously remarked at the time.

But it turns out that for at least a year after Merkel’s ascendency to chancellorship in 2005, the BND conducted surveillance on its American partners.

Germany kept tabs on email addresses at the White House and in other US federal government departments using thousands of keywords as search terms. “The document states that just under 4,000 search terms, or selectors, were directed against American targets between 1998 and 2006,” Der Spiegel reported on June 22, adding that it’s not known whether the selectors were used after 2006.

Apart from the White House, targets for BND surveillance were mainly entities relating to the US military and security apparatus. The BND kept tabs on defense giant Lockheed Martin, as well as the US Air Force, Marine Corps and Defense Intelligence Agency (an intelligence service at the disposal of the secretary of Defense).

American universities, NASA, the non-governmental organization Human Rights Watch and foreign embassies in Washington were also accessed, Der Spiegel reported. The International Monetary Fund and the Arab League’s Washington office didn’t escape the BND’s watchful gaze, either.

The German magazine reported that from a domestic standpoint, Merkel’s administration, the chancellor’s conservative Christian Democratic Union party and the center-left Social Democrats frequently regurgitate BND’s refrain that Germany has never spied on the US and that any data collection would fall under “coincidental capture.”

German spy chief Bruno Kahl would not disclose the agency’s past activities, Der Speigel noted. “The question of who the BND is permitted to surveil, and who it cannot, will not only be the subject of a stricter approval process in the future, but also more ambitious controls,” Kahl was quoted as saying.

Exactly. They are less indispensable than they are indoctrinated to believe.

Sorry my friend but Paris Climate Summit is largely an exercise towards politics of self-gratification (the whole 'feel good' stuff) with lack of consensus in the matters of shift towards eco-friendly practices across the world. Donald Trump did not pledge to it because he is not comfortable with conforming to any deadlines in regards to shift towards eco-friendly practices that Obama administration committed to; Trump also intends to undo some regulations set by Obama administration in regards to American fossil fuel industry.

On ground: US has significantly reduced its CO2 emissions since year 2000 and is making significant strides towards eco-friendly practices. China is no where close to matching US in this domain so far because China has not forsaken its 'manufacturing' aspect of economics.

And the entire world is not getting fine without America - it cannot because 'economic ground realities' do not permit.

Right.

She wants US to work for European interests (mostly) while they take a nap...oh wait...

Somebody tell her that US is not her poodle and it has its economics to worry about.

Honestly, I do not understand the hype about the purchase/sale of gas. Even during the Cold War, USSR sold gas and oil, and Europe bought Soviet gas and oil.
An example from life. There is a bakery just near my house. They sell cheap and delicious bread. But I do not want to depend on this bakery, so I go 10 blocks away and buy expensive and stale bread there.
What kind of nonsense is that?

Says someone living in the UK. Live in the West and want them dead. Sad

What can the poor Americans do? They are around $19 trillion in debt. Europe needs to stand on it's own feet, can't expect the United States to babysit them forever.
