Germany makes final break with Turkey : cancels all investments and issues travel warning

Altay tank is finished. It is using German import engine. No way domestic produced 1500hp engine can be ready in few years time.
You don't know my people. Sanctions were the reason why Turks built a defence industry in the first place.

Europe needs Turkey's massive military forces in Aegean seas, Black Sea, and Anatolia to cover the vast and vulnerable Eastern front against Russia.

No other European country can field such a massively powerful and modern military machine to check the Russians in the East. Turkey is literally THE MOST important ally for the United States in the region to counter act the Russian aggression and military might.

US+Turkey = Checkmate Russian expansion.

Now tell me, who else will fit in that equation? Greece? Bulgaria? Hell, penny little Italy?

Yes, same as Israel but cruel fact is there are something that can never be build with limited resources. A brilliant LAVI never conceived due to American engine embargo due to the threat to their F-16 sales.

Until now Israel still cannot produced 8:1 thrust turbofan engine. Same as Sweden. Turkey maybe less prone to sanction but not sanction proof.

Turkey has been license produced F100 engine but util now. Still cannot produced a F100 similar class engine for their own design.

Not sure it can be just a swap in job. Altay is build entrirely based on German 1500hp engine. A change of engine will need a major redesign and this put doubt on the program.
The Ukrainian latest engines were already touted as a stop hap till Turkey finalises its own.. So they might be no redesign or a slight one..

Turkey is warming up to Russia under the leadership of Tayyip Erdogan so this thoery goes out the window.

Where is Russia going to attack ? The US Navy will blow anything out in the Aegean Sea. What are the Russians going to do in the Black Sea ? USA has refrained from arming Ukraine. Nothing stops them from doing so.

What will Merkel do with 3 million Turks residing in Germany?
She can not throw them out.

Another reason to ban immigration

If I recall correctly, in the same time period the tourist number from Europe declined by 17%. So, our figure is going up regardless of European actions. What people often forget is that many of the European tourists are actually Turks with European passports and due to this fact, we will always have several million "Europeans" visiting Turkey.
You assume quite a lot about what 'people' do and don't forget. We've had immigration from Turkey since the early 1960s. Do you really think that by now we don't know where these immigrants and their descendants go on vacation? You do realize that said 'tourists' from 'Europeans' likely bring in LESS money to the Turkish economy as other tourists. They likely bring in money in other ways, but that doesn't show up in the tourism statistics.

U.S needs allies in the region--just like any superpower does.

Turkey possess the largest and most powerful military in the region. Hence, it's the most valuable ally for the U.S on which U.S can rely on.

Turkey's influence in the wider region (Egypt, Syria, Central Asia, relationship with GCC etc etc) also far outweighs any European country's influence here..

It's pretty simple..

George Friedman talked about it too.

Turkey has little influence. They have quarrels with Greece, Cyprus, Syria and Kurds. They have a cold relationship with Russia and Iran. Add Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE and Kuwait in the Qatar dispute.

UK, France and Germany are more influential in the Middle East.

Turkey is of zero help in Ukraine and in the Baltics

Exactly. That's precisely why U.S can not afford to lose Turkey altogether.

Turkey's warming up to Russia is just Turkey's way of showing that it is not reliant on West exclusively---and it too has many other options.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

And I thought I was not talking to a teenager with no clue about real life...

Should have gone with your flags right away. Your a "bhartiya" so offcourse I should have expected low IQ ramblings from a gullible idiot

Qatar's investments aren't considered in the official FDI figures.
What makes you say that?

The nine countries whose FDI in Turkey I posted together are responsible for 66.8% of FDI in Turkey. So, the remainder 33% is 'all other'.

See here:
Geographic Breakdown of FDI Inflow to Turkey
The majority of FDI inflows to Turkey come from Europe, North America, and the Gulf countries.

See the heading ASIA and how it is subdivided. I think those data DO include Quatar.

:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

Man, this issue is exciting. I can't wait to see the next move. I wonder when the sanctions will begin.
