India and their NA buddies were and still are itching to use Afghanistan as a terror launch pad to bring harm to Pakistani citizens. Russia would ably assist them.

Afghanistan is more so of a mess than Syria, apples and oranges, Syrians at least have a somewhat functional state in Damascus under Assad and in general Syrians are more unified as a people, Afghanistan not the case free for all mess where no one likes each other and etc
