How else would they get their popularity and numbers up ??

This is an old ploy by the Geo, whatever they report, others do that too, the other channels criticize the govt too, all channels have credible / equal, rather more good anchors compared to what Geo have, but in the end only Geo whines about being banned, why doesn't other channels get banned that much also as Geo is.

Just to keep people glued to Geo, they do such acts, just for popularity purposes.

Once again, the regime is trying to control the media. I seriously don't know how our administration can continuously make the same mistakes and expect different results. This is, at least, the fourth time they've tried to shut down or control the media, and each of the time they've tried in the past, they've failed terribly.

Sometimes I wonder if our leadership sold their brains for money too.

Military rule is not the answer to everything. It isn't the answer to anything, in fact. Pakistan needs better governance, but not military dictatorship.

i thought this was a better government when people elected them..........but i guess it doesn't seem like it!

Sir, you may hate Geo, but you cannot deny that it is their right to protest. They reported an event that occurred, and so did many other news channels. This resulted in them being banned. For what? Doing their jobs and reporting an extremely important incident? Did the CNN get banned for showing footage of someone throwing a shoes at Bush?

I don't hate Geo, neither do I love it. I do, however, respect their right to protest as much and in any way as they might. They always seem to take the lead role when it comes to fighting suppression of the media, regardless of whether its Musharraf or Zardari regime that does it, for which I respect them.

Well said. The irony being that last week the other channels were banned (such as AAJ, ARY, etc) by some cable operators and Geo didn't support them or raised any voice for them. Now it comes to them and start crying.

PAFAce, they (Geo) don't just "report an even", they play politics with it. The sensationalize it, twist it and more often than not report their version of it.
Let me show you how:

Fact: Man hurled a show at zardari that didn't hit him or came close to doing so. Zardari continued his speech for the next 15 mins or so.

Did CNN report the bush incident like that? Is that how even should be reported? Is it their job to sensationalize things?

Like you said, other channels also reported it but why we are only criticizing Geo and its attitude? They were clearly supporting the incident and projecting the shoe thrower as a hero. And its not just this incident but thats how they behave. Add Shahid Masood to that mix as well.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Taimi here. That's not how journalism should be-- that's more of a mafia behavior from Geo.
