Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif left for a two-day visit to China on Saturday, an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.

Gen Raheel would meet China's political and military leadership to discuss issues pertaining to security and defence cooperation between the two countries, a defence source told Dawn.

The army chief would apprise Chinese leadership of successes achieved in Operation Zarb-i-Azb, during which the network of East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) — a militant organisation founded by Uighurs in Western China — has also been destroyed.

Pakistan and China enjoy close military and defence ties and both countries often take part in joint military and air exercises.

. . . . .
The government of Pakistan is 'inept' in every sense of the word. Each tenure of a new leader is marked by much corruption and is mired in acute- nepotism. The army is the only facet of Pakistan, that is free of this ignominy and wholeheartedly serves it's nation. Salute the army and stand behind it. Otherwise, this 'merry-go-round' between the PPP and PML-N leaves a lot to be desired and then some. Next leader of Pakistan should be Imran Khan, the current one is hell-bent on 'veering' off the path of development and growth.

Any new defense acquisitions on the card? @Horus @Oscar

... just a power gesture after US, UK and now China -- playing like a US defence estalishment -- show the power of military holds the ground in the region -- US (invitation), UK (invitation) and now China (decided visit).

Hint: last time when COAS invited by Gen. Martin Dempse JCOS US Military, before going to US sent JCOS to China just for deliver message to US that we're balancing one side US and on the other side China -- you can say strategic move.

Might be Gunship deal nothing else more...

It's increasingly obvious that he's the man in charge of Pakistan now, not any civilian leadership.

No! instead this makes it evident that he is actually the only guy who is well capable here unlike our incompetent government lead by badshah nawaz sharif who only likes to eat sirie paye inside his palace riwand, and doesnt know anything regarding how to run a country.
