Lt Gen (retd) Nasir Janjua is most likely to replace Sartaj Aziz as the new National Security Adviser (NSA).

A source close to the prime minister told The News that a decision had been made in principle to appoint General Janjua as the new National Security Adviser.“If nothing dramatic happens, General Janjua will be the next National Security Adviser, among other matters, enabling Sartaj Aziz to focus more on the foreign affairs front,” the source claimed.

Sartaj Aziz holds the twin charge of adviser to the prime minister on national security as well as on foreign affairs. It is pertinent that General Janjua had a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on October 14, during which his role in stabilisation of Balochistan was highly commended as the former commander of the Southern Command.

Wow o_O

Didn't see that coming.

Time to replace that mummy called NSA.

Gen. Nasir Janjua can deal India better.

I think he will not accept this post. Now retired. ...let him sit back and enjoy.

Good choice... He will be able to handle India better.. He knows first hand, of indian designs in balochistan.. Sartaj aziz is better as adviser for foreign affairs.. What expertise does sartaj aziz have on national security? So Gen janjua is a good choice

He has done a wonderful job in Balochistan. He has shown the people of Baluchistan a glimmer of hope. Their lives have been normalized. He and CM Abul Malik Baloch have worked harmoniously together and they have finally turned the tides. He is well aware of the R&W designs in the region, would be a perfect candidate.

Good choice. He is being made NSA to counter his Indian counterpart better, most likely on army's choice. Sartaj Aziz will be the full time Foreign Minister now.

Let's see if the birdie speaks the truth. Sehti is rarely wrong about these things and i hope he's right again.

Separation of powers and positions is important within the government and who better to take over than Nasir Janjua, who has proven his worth both militarily and diplomatically in Baluchistan.

Frankly, i never liked Sartaj Aziz as having any important seat in our administration so, in my opinion, anyone would be better than him.

Finally after years and years of waiting i see some hope. Finally we are realizing that only competent people are appointed at important civilian positions as well and not mere party baazi. Good appointment indeed
