Future of the automotive industry

I travel by bus lol

But anything below 25mpg is a crime to the climate in Lahore and Karachi.

Which bus... red bus! Perfect example of unplanned waste of foreign exchange.
Those buses must be electric or hybrid to say the least.

.
So educated people like you should think and calculate, if its worth it.
Would you like to have distronic, do you like to have EBS, do you like to have airbags, do you like automatic, do you need power steering, you like /require acceleration of corvette .........
Do you like to energy class A or having E has no consequences.
As I know, in Pakistan hybrid cars are very popular. I know initial investment in Pakistan is quite high but again... does it pay off to invest in hybrid?
Yes we do calculate and it all comes down to the fact that what we are getting is not worth it but we are forced to buy this junk anyway. Having airbags is not a matter of liking but it should be forced by driving authorities. Again my choice and knowledge will only matter once I have the options. I would definitely love to drive a hybrid but at the end of the day I have to pay for it from my hard earned money.

.
They are moving from plug in hybrids to pure electric...however their 2 best selling ones are still very very small.

You'll have to go for a Geely Emgrand

larger EV are available, as I posted above.
So how does geely etc. are going to develop in next 5 - 10 years!
Should you in Pakistan hold your vehicle investments for another 1-2 years!

All I can tell you.. all parts of EV comes from China and they are also good in electric drive technology but in over all car design, may be they are not at par with advance companies, but I believe with computer aided designs, they will catchup sooner than later.

The bus going to the bazaar or office.

That bus

In 5 years, I expect EV a familiar sight in Pakistan.
but how do you calculate... because in Pakistan you have no benefit from state to use EV and neither electricity is cheap as compare to rest of the world!
I can topup my EV for almost free. SO can easily calculate my annual fuel charges and count it as a payback over intial investment.
While today, the intial investment is same as combustion engine drive.
This is why, I have open this thread for brain storming... may be I'm overlooking some element!

With Pakistani bus problem is... they are over crowding.
Are you from Karachi? otherwise other large cities like Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar have popular metro bus.
I think federal govt. also gave lot of money to PPP to waste in Karachi as well.
If those buses work better than driving car than its the best.

Lastly.... If you have nothing to add or advise on future of auto industry /technology,,, than read the ideas of others.

I think CPEC has already brought prosperity to Sindh.
In next 5 years, people of Sindh would be looking for cars and many more car plants will mushroom in Pakistan.

What you are overlooking is that Pakistan need a modern auto mobile policy in first place. First its our GOVT that need to realize that its time upgrade. First they need to provide the people with some options and benefits and then people can decide what would better suite them.

AFAIK... Pak auto market is open and its only Pakistanis who are not thinking logically.
As I said, if it economically pays off to have hybrid than buy it.
sure EV can't work without infra. and its for short rides. 100 - 300 km.
Let's look at future and available technology.

what about the maintenance cost apart from the fuel cost? This another factor that we have to keep in mind when go to pick our ride.

Collision Prevention Assist
If your car and life is saved from this tech. would you like to pay for it?
Govt. surely benefit, as it has to spend less on hospitals and will not be loosing valuable human resource in stupid accidents due to human errors.
Worst outcome of stupid accidents, I risk loosing my DL.

I can live without park assist but I'm not buying a car without accident prevention assist.
Market for cars below 2013 is over in next 5-10 years. @MastanKhan

There is no oil involved, occasional software upgrades would be required but that's about it.
I can count those savings as pay back. e.g. if you pay $500 on average for your annual service than in 10 years you are bound to save at least $5000.

.
Active parking assist, now this is really some thing kind be avoided, but in other vehicles its offered as option, so prices are really tricky these days.

Here's a real world demo

Dear aesthetic do mater and not all people think like efficiency oriented theta brains :-) As I said earlier we are looking for better options considering the price we pay for junk produced by Suzuki and likes. Just create alternatives within one million mark and people will be more then happy to try. A more practical alternative is this one if its true.

I was replying to your grievence of not having options available and I stated, Pakistan's auto policy have no limits.
Its surely not possible to build all brands in Pakistan, you have to import them all.
Here's another one:
