Online discussions on internet have been going on for a very long time now. The army has finally decided to do away with the INSAS and go for a proper rifle. What are your views on the possible future Indian rifle?

That is actually a damn good rifle. Every person who has ever fired that weapon swears by it. It is rugged, reliable and actually accurate. AK-47 tagged as an inaccurate rifle is nothing more than American propaganda.

INSAS was horrible. It was over-weight, not enough rounds and unreliable to say the least. The army compensated by ordering for more Kalashnikovs (both Russian and Soviet Bloc) and importing the TAR-21 and other western weapons.

But a brand new rifle is supposed to replace the entire stock. Let's see what comes up.

It was certainly not a "very good" one, but it did its job.

It was too heavy, bad ergonomics, bad production quality, low ammo capacity, no full auto ...

It could not effectively do its job and for that India had to import Tavor. Which elite group in India have you seen using the INSAS? The Ghataks and Paratroopers use Tavor.
