An attack on Iran will be devastating on the whole region. Think back to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan...same scenario will be repeated here with Iranian refugees flooding into Pakistan resulting in more ethnic violence.

Coupled with that we will have an unstable neighbour - look at Iraq & Libya as an example, different warlords taking turns to seize power and destroying the country. The violence will spill over, make no mistake

That said, let me clarify something - my post wasnt intended to be anti Saudi/UAE, but rather reflected my surprise that even with all the hardware these two countries have, they still need the US to fight Iran genuinely, why? US "interests" (read: Saudi/UAE) shouldn't need US protection but should be able to protect themselves.

Read what the article says.. These assets are there to protect American soldiers not KSA or UAE..stay within the context of the article.. not what you think..

To attack iran, I don't think U.S.A even need F35, F22 & F18s, while F15, f16s are more than enough to destroy Iran with support of some cruise missiles , few bomber , it will not take more than month to capture capital.

actually i always wonder why people act as we lost before even the battle starts. most of US assets in region are cargo planes, helicopters and foot soldiers, means they are soft targets for us, then it comes with their air bases, they have less than 5 major airports, how many missiles we would need for them?? 10?? 20?? their navy is a easy target for our AF,subs, suicide boats, swarm tactics... .
