What's new

From humble beginnings (P-530) to the SuperHornet

Superhornet isn't that old, but it hasn't been developed from scratch either. It still uses a lot of technology from the F-18.

In my opinion, India should either go with Dassault Rafales or Mig-35s.
The US isn't a very reliable partner and if you're going to spend billions, then go with dependable sources.

.
^^why mig 35 when we have SU-30MKI and MIG-29 upgraded to Mig-29SMT????????

.
If India is spending so much money on the purchase, then I believe it prudent to go with a new platform (Rafale) or to consider a tried and tested one (MIG).
Sukhois are primarily air-superiority fighters and cannot be compared to Migs who have traditionally been tactical or point-to-point fighters with multi-role capabilities (regardless of what the role stated by MIG).

The concept is to support IAF air-superiority fighters with other aircraft and I feel the Migs are something that the IAF is already used to and needs considerably less time in adapting to the Mig-35. Also, the Mig-35 is much more advanced than the 29s in many aspects.

The Rafale would also be a good choice but the price tag makes them a bit too expensive for Multirole aircraft. American aircraft are also good but strategic and political realities should make India think some more.

This is why I believe that the Migs are more suited to IAF's needs, rather than any other aircraft.

if there is something worst than the outdated Hornet design its the outdated and useless russian Mig29 design... yeah buy those, we will shoot them down with our supperior tech Chinese air fighters like J-11BS and J-16 and J-20...:china:

No no no no buddy.

The Mig-29 is actually pretty good in close-range combat because they had the HMS when few other aircraft did. This is what made them better than the F-16 at that range, but the F-16 still leads in dog-fighting. Reports suggest that even the F-35 is not as agile as the F-16.

The HMS in the SuperHornet is allegedly more of an obstruction than an achievement btw.

How sad, everything from the F-18 to the Mig-29 is an outdated design but the J-11 which is based off of the 1970's SU-27 airframe is 'superior', and please don't flatter yourself with superior Chinese 'tech'. And tell me, will you be planning on shooting down our Migs with the Russian R-77 or the PL-12 with Russian components? And is there any chance that the J-10 with the AL-31 will be joining the dog-fight? The Chinese are very smart indeed, they equip their aircraft with inferior Russian parts and than they become superior by virtue of being equipped on a super sophisticated Chinese aircraft. Very clever indeed.

Yeah the us will send f 22 f 35 and b2 and b3 to send you back to the flintstones you are Chineese jets are trash your engines are garbage the j 10 is just an f 16blk 60 with canards j11 is a russian trash ripoff

Reality: China has already completed significant work on radars below 2 Ghz.
Supposedly nothing is invisible below that range and even the F-22 appears on the radar from time to time. The problem with the Raptors and the B-2 is that the US may not be too eager to send them against China. Area is too large has a lot of air-defense systems.

In retaliation, all China needs to do is to dump dollars on the market to destabilize the American economy. The Chinese don't need to fire a single missile to keep the US at bay.

PS: They've got thermo-nuclear weapons combined with extremely long-range ballistic missiles. Guess who's in reach.

You don't have any idea about economics, do you ?
Its the other way round. China has bought trillions of long term US govt. bonds and now they are trapped by it. This buying may make chinese economy stable or destailize it but there is no escaping from it. If hypothetically, one day dollar value reduces by 50% then Chinese govt. will come to the streets. And this is the main reason why China keeps on raising voice for creating a global currency to replace dollars in every G-x summit they attend.

This is from a source i read few days ago :
To predict whether China will dump American bonds, one must first understand the reasons why China has purchased and holds the bonds. Initially, China’s purchase was prompted by a need to have a higher foreign reserve than Taiwan, and thus, obtain stronger bargaining power in the international community.

Later on, party officials found out that buying foreign bonds was a convenient and effective way to embezzle state property, cash out, and accumulate hard currency. Since then, the hoarding has simply gone out of control. All these were either for the good of the one Party, or they were done out of myopia and ignorance. Dumping the bonds would no doubt damage their own interests, but would it achieve the goal of hitting the enemy hard?

The other top holders of American bonds are Japan, the U.K., the oil-exporting countries, the Caribbean, and Brazil. When China attempts to dump, who would be able and willing to buy the bonds? Who would help China exact vengeance on the U.S.? I don’t think any of these countries would.

So the result would be either the bonds would have no market, or the U.S. would buy them back. In the former scenario, the financial nuclear bomb simply becomes a bad flare. In the latter, China would be handing the bomb over to its target enemy. And of course, the U.S. would purchase the bonds only when the price hit rock bottom.

The return on American bonds usually ranges between 3 percent and 6 percent. If the U.S. buys the bonds at half price, it would be reducing its debt to China by half without having paid a penny.

But effective or not, if China were to use such a financial weapon, it would be like declaring war. The misguided action would cause the U.S. to drastically reduce, if not terminate, trade between the two countries. Then millions of Chinese businesses would be forced into bankruptcy due to the loss of American business.

When billions of workers are left jobless, the stability that Beijing painstakingly attempts to maintain would be even harder to achieve.

Even from China’s perspective, the over-purchasing of American bonds is not wise. Hoarding foreign currency may be justifiable if the gold standard is present, but the U.S. has been off gold since the 1970s. Apparently China’s leaders are influenced by the thinking of the 1970s. No doubt Beijing has realized this by now, but a little too late.

Furthermore, if the international demand for American financial assets is lowered, the interest rate will rise, and the American economy will benefit from it in the long run because the current crisis is a result of excessive borrowing.

By refusing to appreciate the value of the Chinese yuan and hoarding foreign currency to buy American bonds, China has been encouraging the U.S. to borrow too much. A depreciation of American bonds and an increased interest rate would help control borrowing behaviors and force Americans to be more cautious with their spending.

At any rate, China would not dare to dump American bonds because it is neither willing to, nor able.

:coffee:

It is true then that China cannot simply dump all the bonds as it is techncally not feasible.

But I was talking about a hypothetical US vs. China scenario where the US dispatches aircraft as a threat to China (mentioned in a previous post).
In that case, it doesn't matter if China goes bust.

China bested Russia by making a better plane, the J-11B it the proof...:china:

You got Russian detector just like Gambit has F 22 senses pal.

This is the difference, usually I sit back and mind my business, but when Chinese fan boys make provocative claims (which is often) I expect a reasonable explanation; i will also will give them a dose of reality.

Even you have to admit that many Chinese members on this forum are either trolls or delusional, they constantly boast how China is superior to everyone, how the Raptor, T-50, F-15, Mig-29, and F-18 is trash, how superior Chinese IQ is and the list goes on. It's rude and provocative, and quite frankly an embarrassment to all Chinese on this forum, every time these fan boys boast they get a public spanking.

This happens far more with Indian and Pakistani members. We are a minority on this forum
