I have a lot of good African friends, and Sri Lankans are generally cool too. Indians on the other hand, the less said the better. But don't you find their need to latch onto the IVC hilarious? They are full of contradictions. They claim the Taj Mahal, but get upset if we claim IVC, even though we are the sons of the soil.

No civilization unless it sprouts on a island is 'sealed' off in air tight box. If you look at Nile [which is rather remarkably similar to Indus in that it traverses dry semi-arid country] it has lots of sites dotted all over. They extend from the mouth of the Nile all the way down into Sudan and there are even outliers in Eritrea with some even extending to Somalia.

These Pyramids are found in Sudan and similar traces exist as far south as Somalia. Yet Somalis, Sudanese don't go around trying to displace the Egyptians by using such excuses as "oh you speak Arabic, your Muslim, your genetics have changed etc etc". Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia recognize that while they may have some footprint of the ancient civilization but they all the accept the ground zero is in Egypt simply because that is where the civilization was centred. The same applies to IVC with "I" standing for Indus and you don't need to a geography graduate to know that Indus is primarily in Pakistan. IC sites foci is in Pakistan with outliers in Iran, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and India. But the fulcrum is in Pakistan. This is something our junglee rivals from Gangas can't handle. My claim is that in order for one to draw ancestry from the Harrapans, one would require DNA samples to corroborate.
Since no such evidence or sample exists, one cannot make a claim of direct ancestry.
Besides, we have no idea what happened to the IVC and its people.

So how are people so confiedent of drawing ancestral links which can be traced, through either:

2. Culture
3. Language

There are more pyramids in Sudan than Egypt. Ancient Egypt was also ruled by Nubians, a major ethnic group in Sudan. The Sudanese have a rightful claim to Ancient Egypt.

As someone who has actually studied this subject a little let me share with you what modern scientific theory of the region is.

The Harapa people were actually a Dravidian people and were not Hindus but rather had their own Gods.

At some point, the Aryans invaded and took over. From the Aryans Hinduism starts to form and their language started to take root in North India. The Aryan people (mixed with Dravidian?) are the actual ancestors of modern Pakistani/Northern Indians. These people pushed the native Dravidian people more and more south until they had almost all of norther India and the Dravidian were only left with South India.
You can see evidence for this in this language map, as there is still an area in Pakistan that speaks a Dravidian language .
The blue areas are Dravidian speakers.

So long story short, IVC was neither Pakistani or Hindu. But Pakistan has a better claim to it since it was on it's land, just like England has a claim to stonehenge
