Freedom From The Congress Dynasty: Sooner The Better For States(must read)

1st apologise for using that kind of language I didn't think you would take it so srsly

2nd yes I am a admirer of Chinese achievements & power some would use the world lover too.coming to the point my point stands we were ahead of them in the 50s & through their hard work & right polices they have left us behind.
By the way I have the experince of working 15-16 hours daily
A century back India was ahead of a lot countries, but is there a way to predict that a policy would bring only success and would not bring along a mountain avalanche after a decade?
Not so long back China had earned the ire of countries across the globe for violating human rights. But their policies worked, and today China can influence global politics. Should I be surprised???
We all 're worshippers of the rising sun.

Good governance & a Govt that does not tolerate corruption will bring growth & jobs

Expecting an idealistic government in a fledgling country is a fatuous thing to do.

Congress has its downside but it's impetuous to say that congress govt has been perilous for India. If not anything Nehru prevented India from turning into a Pakistan where religion comes above everything else.
I like Modi (and not his govt) because after Indira Gandhi, Modi is the only PM who has displayed a lot of spunk.
Yes, Vajpayee's govt felt like a breath of fresh air, but won't you feel the change when you step out of your room after being locked inside for long?
I do not understand GDP and other such growth factors, but I for one know that India is a behemoth and a democracy.
It can NOT grow at a rate faster than its present growth rate unless it turns into a communist country like China or splinters into tiny Punjabs,Bengals and Tamilnadus.
Let's stop blaming everything on Congress. :)

When Nehru himself was IMPOSED on India, how can one judge his contributions ?
It was Patel who did all the homework.

The standard narration completely ignores the role played by officials like VP.Menon or the speech given by Mountbatten to the princes.
Patel was not opposed to aligning with the west so we might have been pro-USA since our independence. Let me remind you that today India earns a lot of respect for its neutral policies and its support for non-alignment, Nehru deserves some accolade for it.
Yes, his economic policies would have been better than that of Nehru, but then again 60years after his death ppl would have come up with something to crib about Patel. That's very human!!!
I am not underestimating Sardar Patel's contributions, I strongly believe that India stands on very strong foundations because of stalwarts like Patel-Ambedkar-Nehru.
You are moving away from the point
Or you're refusing to see the point I'm making.

Can you guys tell the reason why the great Nehru awarded himself bharat ratna in 1955 and Indira Gandhi awarded herself in 1971. But they forgot to award father of our constitution BR Ambedkar (he was awarded under VP Singh non congress govt 1990) and Sardar Patel (was awarded under Narasimha Rao 1991)

That's like asking why does Modi brag about himself in all his speeches???
:P

Okay I give in...Nehru was a selfish man. Nobody here claimed he was a god and I'm not a Nehru fan. But give credit where credit is due.

Nehru was the best of the dynasty, he may not have been the brightest bulb in india, but his heart was in the right place and he tried to live by principles. He did chose socialism over capitalism and that led to India's economic failures. You cant really blame him though, he was not very smart about economics, certainly no Lee Kwan Yew, and socialism sounds good on paper, equality , justice and all that. A lot of countries were trying it out in the mid 20th century. Nehru was able see shades of grey, he did not chose out and out communism, thank heavens. He did not mean to leave behind a dynasty, he wanted democracy to work and thought new leaders would be thrown up by the system.

The villain of history is Indra Gandhi, by the seventies it was obvious that socialism as an economic experiment was not working. Many countries in SE Asia turned firmly right wards. Mrs. Gandhi according to her biographers was " not interested in economic ideas ". She continued to carry out purely populist measures in order to keep herself in power. She never tried to make India prosperous. Unlike her father she pushed for her two dunce children to take over the prime ministership of a republic as though it was a medieval kingdom. Indra gandhi is responsible for the mess.

Rajiv was a crook and a dunce who frittered away a landslide..... and so is his son. We need the congress party. every democracy needs a competent opposition...and god knows there are plenty of buffoons in the BJP too. but we need a party that puts the good of India first not the good of the family. That is the problem with congress they are not a modern Democratic Party so much as feudal sycophants of the dynasty.

I do not like Nehru much, though I respect him for being a firm believer of democracy.

Not really, the lady was elected 4 times as Indian PM, she was a popular leader, till she decided to switch to autocratic leadership. The green revolution had earned her the support of masses and also victory of 1971 under her stewardship made her a heavyweight in international politics who dared to take on US. India joined nuclear club during her stint as PM. But her efforts were watered down by the fact that she perpetuated dynasty politics.

I see Rahul Gandhi as a nincompoop.

At any rate there is a huge difference between "bragging" and giving yourself an award .

Bragging or self promotion is something that we all do at work. The boss has to know who it was that did the work, or else your co worker is more than happy to take the credit and the promotion. Modi is advertising the work he did to his boss ie the electorate . Giving yourself an award is a different mind set totally, a neutral person has to decide whether you deserve to be rewarded for your work or not, that is why no one can give themselves a salary raise.

Being a PM. Is a job not some kind of divine right to rule. Modi, Nehru etc were PMs not the Son Emperor.

She was the ONLY leader, who else could you vote for? Anybody capable she cut down before they could actually rear their heads. She was vindictive and revengeful. In 17 years of leadership, the only thing she has to her credit is the green revolution and 1971 ...what a waste...just look at what China or Japan or Singapore or Malaysia or Germany did in 17 years. ...and if this was such an achievement, why is everyone so critical of Modi after 17 months?

I will give this to her, she was not as personally corrupt as her sons....but this could also be because India was so poor during her tenure, there was nothing to steal. Her son and daughter in law certainly managed to get real rich real fast on the backs of the poor.

We often overlook the fact that Gandhis were not alone, they had many subordinates who had their hands in the cookie jar along with Gandhis.
Indira Gandhi was dubbed a dumb doll when she was first elected. I am not saying they were Angels, just that they were not alone.

Yes absolutely, in fact I would go one step further and say that the people behind the Gandhis - those with priveleges but no accountability are a lot worse than the Gandhis. I am pretty sure they are the ones pushing R AGa to become leader, the kid has never shown any interest whatsoever in politics and would be much happier if he could go off and live in Europe somewhere and spend some of those stolen billions.
