It is not waste of money. They can sell it to a third party or France can use the warship for their own navy. I think France did the right thing. Ethics before profit. They will gain a lot of credit from NATO for showing spine and it will pay back. Also how spineless and digusting would France look if they sold weapons to Russia while Russia has started a war on the Ukrainian people and stole pieces of Ukraine? People should see the stopping of this deal as part of a new round of sanctions that is being slapped on Russia thanks to the new cold war they started.

France suffers a lot from this , if France does cancel this deal , they loose their credibility big time as suppliers of military equipment. Not something the french wanted . Looks like US is screwing up both Russian and European economies over Ukraine ..

Russia only wont get the warships , nothing more . France's consequences are long term unlike Russia's . As i said , not supplying the equipment they promised in a deal which they already signed will raise a lot of Eyebrows among those who buy equipment from France.

Russia doesn't actually need to buy Mistral from France. Russia can build its own Mistral like ship. Russia has high technology like Su-35S and PAK-FA and Ka-52.
