France's Mistral Warship Deal With Russia Is Off

Good decission by Hollande. Why should we sell weapons to an enemy nation of the EU?

. .
I suppose, if Russia wants that ship, the sailors would be ordered to sail the ship to Russia. What's France going to do about it? It's not like France dares to shoot at Russian military

They won't.

.
Russia doesn't actually need to buy Mistral from France. Russia can build its own Mistral like ship. Russia has high technology like Su-35S and PAK-FA and Ka-52.

Why are you so funny boy ?

Here's a photo taken in May 2014 of the first "Ivan Green" class boat built in Russia. This boat is a "light equivalent" of the Mistral. Construction on the first Ivan Gren, built in Russia's Yantar Shipbuilding plant, began in 2004..............

So, they have been building it for 10 years now and it is still not ready, looks crappy and rusty. Its technology is surely completely outdated now. And MOTHERUSSIA claims that it can easily build a Mistral right now and does not really need the French one. :enjoy::enjoy::enjoy::enjoy:

Amphibious assault ship is not priority. Yasen is the thing :p:

The russian navy lacks of MODERN amphibious assault ship...
Admiral Vladimir Visotskiy, russia's navy chief said "If we had a ship like Mistral during the conflict with Georgia, the black sea fleet would have accomplished its task in 40 minutes instead of 26 hours as it happened then...." :enjoy::enjoy:

Russia borders Georgia by land. Why would Russia need an amphibious assault ship to attack Georgia?

You really don't know strategy or tactics do you?

Had Russia had access to an AAS, she could have mobilized forces in the Black Sea Fleet , Military Base in Crimea to Georgia. There were about 20,000 Russian Ground Forces in Crimea that could have been deployed to Georgia. The deployment of the 5 battalions of the Russian 58th Army into South Ossetia was a long ordeal.

.
Didn't they send troops to Abkhazia by sea ?

The deployment of the 5 battalions of the Russian 58th Army was time consuming. Plus, the force projection left much of the Russian Caucasus Region heavily exposed to threats. It would have been better had the Russian Ground Forces deployed the 2 divisions stationed in Crimea to South Ossetia, supported by maybe 1 or 2 battalions of the Russian 58th Army.

Alas, Russia doesn't have an AAS Force.

Yes and no on the Russian Navy having an AAS. They don't have the LHD, LHA, LPH, or LPD that can be used to transport helos, but they do have 28 LSD ships in their inventory.

The Russians do have amphibious landing capabilities, they are just more limited that their Western (and some eastern) counterparts.

Amphibious warfare vessels take these designations:

And you think NATO's France will cripple to India's threats?

This can't be real news. The source doesn't seem very reliable in the first place.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is fake news which I'm certain it is.

I am not saying for sure, but may be possible that MoD see this as direct threat to India. As in future France can also backstab India too.

The biggest winner will Typhoon and Juan Carlos.

Definitely the Russians have amphibious warfare vessels, but the constraints in their current inventory is the fact that it would take too much time transport assets to area of strategic interests. For example, the Ropucha Class has a maximum load of about 4.08k tonnes, whereas 1 Mistral Class AAS has a full load displacement of 21.3k tonnes.

Meh. Russians are not that keen on amphibious assault ships. They prefer to bomb the living s out of people. 8-)
