Any countries have Hawks and Doves. I never said China is peace loving country or never threatened other countries with force. But relatively, China is more peaceful than other great powers.

Believe me, if Vietnam was in Mexico location and has huge territory dispute with US, you are gone already. Or if Vietnam was close to Russia and fought with Russians, Vietnamese either assimilated into Russians or wiped out, more likely wiped out.

China has options, peaceful or not very peaceful. It's jungle world when there are huge interest conflicts, let's us be honest, China is assertive but not aggressive yet.

Vietnam War is aggressive when US is 10 thousands kilometers away from Vietnamese and has little interest conflicts.

The world is very cruel when you has serious interest conflicts with great power. Agree or disagree, China is very self-constrained so far.

One more thing, just take a look at neighbors of Israel. None of them have happy ending.

It’s better to rely on our military power than chinese mercy. Nobody knows how many of warmongers like Wei Fenghe, that believes winning a war against Vietnam is like eating Dim Sum. Or in China how many racists like Kai Liu, who believes, we are not human because we buy less cars.
