I would have said take the news with a pinch of salt, but this piece of news is consistent with French statements in the past. They are also deeply tied in with India over various deals.

I say look to the Germans. The old HDW offer should be revived i.e. the 214......

214 would be an excellent option for Pakistan. But again, where are the funds coming from that's the biggest question.

There are funds, I'm not fully aware of the breakdown. Many sources state that they are in talks with the Germans. Now, some reports talk about "used" subs, I say that the 214 deal should be bought back.

@waz @Horus

This means that The deal for French avionics for JF 17 is also not happening

@waz

What is the price of the Chinese submarine that you are buying

I'm not sure of the JF-17 stuff. There have also been no details on the price of the Chinese submarines.

why not buying from China .....you will TOT as well as 50% discount ...may be 100%:coffee:

East/West mix.

Nothing unexpected from France. This is not an ally country of Pakistan like most Western countries. Frankly, we don't have the cash either. There are better and more cost-effective alternatives for Pakistan. Chinese subs is the way forward. The Chinese subs are excellent and finance isn't a fuss. Keep maintaining the Agosta's.

Germany built but never used type 214. Any used sub would be from Greece, Portugal or SK. Also their 212 is not even a decade old yet. Any sub Pakistan buys would be new i guess

French objection is reasonable .Profit is prime aim of business.18 billion$ MMRCA +Scorpene project +others .At any case these are quite profitable than the Pak dollar for second hand system.

It would have been obvious that after India closed the Scorpene deal they would have asked that the same technology wouldn't end up with Pakistan to.

There is no French second hand option as their subs are nuclear .

The French never turn down cash. Even if it means selling used or refurbished subs. Cash is cash. The only reason is Indian whining. Everyone knows it. Not Pakistan's loss at all.

Nothing to worry about for Pakistan. Pakistan has good alternatives at its disposal. Chinese subs have built a very good reputation in recent years. In fact, going to the French was needless.

212's are only for Germany,Italy,the developing nations.214 is for export.

France supplier is not worthy and unreliable after wasting times many years with India's MMRCA

Pakistan should ignore France, they don't produce great quality, poor services, horrible reputations, and triple costs. Remember what France does to Russia about warships deal.
