France reveals details of US pressure on Egyptian armed forces

French Defense Minister Florence Barley revealed the ongoing discussions with Egypt over the new Rafale deal in an interview with La Tribune newspaper.

Asked about the situation in Egypt and how the US embargo on exporting the SCALP EG parts to France would be solved in favor of the deal, Barley said that there is a positive dialogue with the US ally, adding that France maintains and will keep its commitments with its ally Egypt in the Middle East. The transaction will take place and Paris will take the necessary steps to fulfill the contracts.

Barley explained that the French and the Americans are ranking the issue at the highest levels, which can be done during the visit of French President Macaron to the US capital Washington, in April.

Barley added that in general France is preparing for the future to ensure that military equipment does not require foreign components. For example, the MICA-NG, which will be manufactured this year and will be ready in 2025, will be developed without foreign components.

Did you not even read any of the answers we all gave you on the EAF thread when you posed that question there? Didn't we explain that it has both types of BVR missiles that the French Air Force uses and the HAMMER guided bombs? How is that toothless? The SCALP EG is a cruise missile with a 250 km range mainly for hangars and runways. If it's disallowed doesn't mean it's the end of the world. My goodness. And besides, read the article @The SC just posted. It says France will honor its deal. That doesn't mean 10 years down the road lol. Oh man. Even to complete the entire order of 36 Rafales will take at least 5 more years anyway.

Here's another thing you fellas that keep chomping on these things need to consider: as much as you would like to see a war with Israel, it ain't gonna happen. So stop assuming all this arming is just for a war with Israel! The air force needs to be strong for any potential enemy and not one we have a peace treaty with. Jeeez.

Oh and we have bought Russian jets like you suggested didn't you know that? And no one in the ME is going to think of buying that Swedish jet from that feminist government. lol They wouldn't sell it to us anyway so we're good with that.

We knew the French will honor the deal. This is probably more important to them than it is for Egypt.

Yes, this is what you and I predicted in the first thread about the Scalp EG issue with the US.. it was a French-US issue.. and France will honor it at all costs.. it goes with its reputation as a reliable supplier..
Also it was a good and smart move to link the already signed Scalp EG deal with the second deal of the Rafale.. now we have more substance to back up those logical predictions.. the first is the French defence minister's statement in the above article and the second is the Cismoa signing by Egypt.. too facts that makes it a 100% done deal..

As for the Meteor.. I have seen many articles saying that Egypt has signed a deal for it and ordered it..
