I could never understand one thing...

Do Russians see themselves as the part of western civilization? or not?

Some Russian - not very smart liberals and outright traitors do consider Russia a part of the West. But the vast majority - do not.
Russia almost the entire 20th century was the only alternative to the West on the planet, contribute to the collapse of the colonial empires and the liberation of oppressed peoples.
With the arrival of Putin Russia again assumes the role of a counterweight to Western maniacs, hard thinking that their destiny - to rule the world and plunder the people. Until Russia has regained its strength, but for 10 years she would do it again and will play the role of protector of small nations from the tyranny of the imperialists and the bankers.

Moving along comrades @vostok retarded propaganda we head towards the truth.The russian state is actually a prison of nations,especially caucasian muslims,they hate the minorities,there are barely 2 mosques or so in Moscow.The russians are openly despised throughout Europe,especially amongst Eastern europeans who witnessed first hand the russian mentality (rape for example is the national sport of the russian army).From the baltic states,Poland,Czech Republic,Hungary,Romania,Bulgaria and even Ukraine everybody hates the russians and that hate didn't just appear over night out of nowhere.

Well,a lot of central asians do want a return to communist or socialist system as they were impoverished by the soviet collapse.You can refer to the soviet 1991 referendum. Majority of the Central Asian people had voted to remain part of the Soviet union. I believe it was latvia,lithuania,estonia,armenia that opted for independence.

I know about dislike of Russia in Poland ,Czech Republic ,but Bulgaria? Are you sure? Because Bulgarians who I know express a very different opinion .

I primarily mean the Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan - almost all of northern Kazakhstan populated Russian.
But Central Asia also was part of the Empire and the Soviet Union. Besides, the only way to stop the spread of terrorism from Afghanistan - to restore the old Soviet border and restore the Russian military bases.
