PARIS (AFP): France is in the final stage of negotiations with the United Arab Emirates for the sale of Rafale fighter jets, Defence Minister Gerard Longuet has said.

"We are in the final negotiation," Longuet said on LCI television of talks on the UAE acquiring the French-made fighters, adding that the chances were "very strong" that a contract would be signed.

"It's a significant deal for this country," he said.

"When you equip an air fleet, it's for 40 years, so the buyer sets his conditions."

Negotiations began in 2008 for the sale of 60 Rafale fighters, the pride of Dassault Aviation used by France's armed forces but yet to be sold abroad.

Abu Dhabi has asked for an improved version fitted with a more powerful engine from Snecma of the Safran group with a thrust of nine tonnes, as well as a higher performing radar system from Thales.

Financing of these improvements "is one of the issues under discussion," a top Dassault Aviation official said in February.

Interesting.

Does that include in the offset negotiations of MMRCA?

.
yeah the price tag will also be the best.

Money no problem pocket full o'dat now. :D

But the main reason why the UAE is being so stubborn regarding this deal is because they want it cheaper and the french are trying to sell them in an inflated prices.

UAE is probably trying to control their block of the Rafale the same with the F-16 block 60.

.
What different is this deal with MMRCA

Senior can you please put some light on the difference. what If Rafale win MMRCA deal.

Will India get Better Aircraft then UAE.

Once UAE has the aircraft it would be easier for Pak Pilot to get the access and take out loop holes.

what Impact will it bring it on to Indian Airforce Superiority.

.
And where will they be based? The Block 60's are in US, and go to Saudia to exercise!!!

Magr paisa hai to kiya masla?

Yes The UAE Rafale will be even more advanced than the french ones. With better Engine and better Radar. It will probably be wither too expensive for India to buy such a plane or the UAE won't allow the sale of it to India.

And yes Pakistanis now can study both the Typhoon and the Rafale from top to bottom :D

Difference is UAE insistence on more powerful engine and a better radar. We are happy with what they have now as per the trails concluded.

Probably the same. Because of less production costs.

You cant take out loop holes simply by looking or flying few hours. Flying tactics and styles and strategies differ from countries to countries.

0 impact. India , UAE relations are on different level now.

Btwn its Rafale, not Rafael.

Yeah, they were stationed there for a long time, and I heard it from an Insider in the UAEAF.

Probably for Pilot training there was a video released by UAEAF some time ago about their training in the US and how they have finally completed it. It took a while since their plane is an entirely new plane on the field.

Did your source tell you why were they "stationed" there?

As I said they were training them on this new aircraft.

Interesting...60 high end Rafales should place the UAE airforce way above others in the region.
