Ben non! Pourquoi ça chierais?

Sparsely populated desert equals unlikely collateral damage.

The only question which is a very internal French one :
Are these used to boost exports, aside from operational need ...
or is it the forces taking advantage of a political situation that
favours them through important equipment allocation & buys?

On gaspille des Scalps, on tire des scorpions au MLRU / We squander Scalps, shoot scorpions with rockets
so that more/new ones will be procured? Live target practice?
Oh! Well, it counts as training at worst and as long as there's a takfiri sitting on them, I'll only mourn the camels.

Makes me want to sing in fact : Ils arrivent ces puta..ns de Jaguar, casser d'l'Isil au canon de 30...
on a known air and paraphrased twice!

Tu dois connaître, Tay.

France upgraded its Lance-Roquette Unitaire to Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) standard.
  • The M30 is a precision guided rocket, range 'over 60km', with a standard load of 404 M85 submunitions.
  • The M31 GMLRS Unitary rocket transformed the M270 into a point target artillery system. The associated M31 rocket has a range of up to 70 km. The M31A1 GMLRS-Unitary rocket is an improved version of the M31 GMLRS-Unitary rocket, replacing the previous dual-mode fuze with a multi-mode fuze with point detonate, delay, and proximity capabilities.
  • The M31A1 GMLRS-Unitary warhead has a multi-mode fuze with point detonate, delay, and proximity capabilities and uses Inertial Measurement Unit guidance along with GPS to enhance accuracy. It is designed to reduce collateral damage when employed against area and point targets in restrictive terrain. An alternative warhead GMLRS expected to enter service in late 2016.
  • The AW warhead is a large airburst fragmentation warhead that explodes 30 ft (9.1 m) over a target area to disperse penetrating projectiles. Considerable damage is caused to a large area while leaving behind only solid metal penetrators and inert rocket fragment.

So, longer range, greater precision, unitary warhead for point targeting. Probably just so you don't always gave to send a combat jet or attack helicopter to take something out at greater distances.

The MLRS is sometimes referred to as the "Grid Square Removal System" (metric maps are usually divided up into 1 km grids and one launcher firing twelve rockets can completely blanket one square kilometer with submunitions).

It is no coincidence that three unites are sent. A typical MLRS cluster salvo consists of three M270 vehicles each firing all 12 rockets. With each rocket containing 644 M77 grenades, the entire salvo would drop 23,184 grenades in the target area. However, with a two percent dud rate, that would leave approximately 400 undetonated bombs scattered over the area, which would endanger friendly troops and civilians. (hence GMLRS/M31 is a good addition)

You might be right as after the deployment of those MLRS,quickly after it was announced that the Air Force will withdraw some Mirage 2000s from the Sahel. (2x Mirage 2000D and 2x Mirage 2000C.)

Oh man the French have returned to Mali. What a huge gift for jihadists in the area. I can imagine them going from village to village and saying that colonialists have returned. Soon you will see security collapsing throughout the area

. . .

Nope? Then why the UN mission in the area is the bloodiest in the world? Also did you know that security has deteriorated throughout the Sahel? Niger, Chad, Burgina Faso, Mauritania all these countries have suddenly security problems. These things did not happen 5 years ago. Soon you will have a huge jihadist revolt throughout the area and regimes will collapse

Operation Serval - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and what you just implied hasn't happened quite the opposite,

In fact, the French troops never left Mali (since operation Serval),as this operation ended,a new operation called "Barkhane" saw the light.
Barkhane is an operation against armed terrorist groups in the Sahel, the operation has been designed with 5 countries (G5 Sahel) and 3.500 French soldiers (Deployed across the Sahel) are taking part in this operation. (Of course coordinating with the African armies.)

The French troops have been well welcomed as the local populations were against those terrorists groups, haven't you seen how the French were seen as liberators ?

The people of Mali love the French forces. There are literally dozens of videos showing crowds of Malians welcoming French forces after the Foreign Jihadi elements were driven out. Mali, Senegal, Chad (ex French colonies) etc are peaceful Muslim states, whose people are tolerant and abhor the extremism of Salafist Jihadis groups.

French were the worst colonial exploiters .... Apart from Algerian genocide.. They literally raped Africa and robbed her of everything including culture... And the exploitation still continues...
