mujahideen actually captured kargil and pakistan army went later after indian airforce starting shelling pakistani posts on LOC along with mujahideen inside kargil.

eg. Dawn leaks or After Indian surgical strikes, Pakistan army on one hand claimed, there were no strikes just routine cross border fire, on the other hand claimed , they had killed 8 - 14 Indian soldiers in retaliation

Not even single Pakistan army soldier has even been injured in one month of heavy cease fire violation - that is common sense, especially when they claiming they have killed (8/14 + 5) Indian soldiers in the same period.

bbc ki report parho to pata chale ga what happened on 29 sep. indians attacked pakistani soldiers sitting inside concrete bunkers. so they lost just 2 soldiers. pakistan army responded and killed indians firing at pakistani posts in open.
the fire power both sides have there. you can't expect to live while being detected in fron of posts.
pakistan claimed 5 indian soldiers because itne dino me wohi aik bomb tek jaga laga ha 2no sides ka. right at the spot. and one thing more, even hercules was not powerful enough to take atmost 100 rounds of ammo to that height. indians they can't have resisted much. once out of weapons 1 was captured alive.
