Former ISI chief: Hiding Osama a victory

asad71;4512823]1. HG was a very successful ISI Chief. During his tenure great things happened in this region. Afghans and Pakistanis would always remember him for his tireless work at a crucial time in history.

Johny walker effect

2. HG now writes and speaks in support of Pakistani masses, the Ummah and the defense of Islamic ideology. These topics are not popular in the WCC (Western Christian Civilization) which sees a resurgence of Islam as a threat to the hold of theocracy and capitalists over that Civilization..

"U.S. officials acknowledge that the CIA used Afridi, 48, to run a hepatitis vaccination program as a ruse, hoping to find a match for bin Laden’s DNA and thereby verify the al-Qaeda leaders’ presence in Abbottabad, the garrison town where he hid for six years.

The report says Afridi received about $61,000 for the operation in Abbottabad, as well as substantial sums for previous work that involved hepatitis-B vaccination campaigns in other areas."

So he received 61,000 $ just for giggles? The episode of OBL has no bearing on Afridi's case he was working for a foriegn spy agency and got caught.

I never said that the CIA didn't use him, however for him to be convicted of collaborating, it would have been necessary for the good doctor to have known that it was the CIA he was dealing with. That is an improbable claim.

He is already a resident there man, a long time resident........

You are still making the assumption that he knew he was working for the CIA. That flies in the face of all logic.

Actually the funds for the vaccine drive was sanctioned by the state. So it is very possible he was unaware of CIA role.

Nope; that still does not answer the question whether Afridi "knew that he was working for the CIA".
It only says that the CIA knew (obviously) that they "had used Afridi to work for them".
Do both mean the same thing?

Like I said do companies pay 61,000 $ just for giggles? He ran FAKE polio campaign after stealing some stuff from WHO. He thought he was doing what?

Who knows what he thought? However you are judging his actions in hindsight, it is almost certain that he had no idea who he was working with. The CIA would hardly have been handing out cards saying as much. This was one of the best operations of the CIA, an operation which was breathtakingly brilliant in its execution. Allowing random Pakistanis in on it would have been part of the plan.

You're still saying many things without saying anything!
It is not what he THOUGHT that matters; but what he KNEW.
Maybe Afridi THOUGHT that he was Dr.Universe; who was going to eradicate Polio and Hepatitis in that part of the world!
And Afridi THOUGHT that the $61,000 was the advance for the Hollywood movie that would be made about him after he had done so!
Which means nothing/nada/zilch; as much as your inferences.

The question is: Did Dr.Afridi KNOW that he was working for the CIA and not for the STC; with whom he was dealing with?

US agrees about 61,000 $ about Fake Polio campaign - these facts are undisputed. Pakistani authorities say that he had met high ranking officials in Islamabad (US has not denied or accepted that).

You are going to awful lengths to portray him a victim of events when he clearly is not. He made a conscious decision to work for a foreign spy agency, that decision sealed his fate right there.

Plus the fact that US has asked Pakistan for prisoner swap - which would never happen in case of an 'innocent victim of circumstances'.

Americans especially CIA would only reveal on need to know basis. They already had the compound under surveillance. All they wanted was the DNA samples of its inhabitants. They did not have to reveal to Mr. Afridi who the inhabitants were and what they were looking for. Remember it was a top secret mission and they would not have jeopardized their mission after they come so close to identifying Osama. Both Americans and you guys have used him for your own ulterior motives.

LOLL. You still have not answered the $61,000 dollar question!

As a state you guys let go of worse people....

You guys have let go Mr Raymond Davis just with slap on his wrist even though he murdered two of your people. You guys have let him go in the guise of diplomatic immunity.

You guys have pardoned Dr. Abdul Kadeer khan even though he reveled your nuclear secrets.

You guys can do the same for this guy under prisoner swap program and get something in return, like more aid.

It is Ramznan for God's sake. Please observe some decency.

I meant to imply that you were still breastfeeding when he was fighting for Pakistan. I didn't mean it to come out as anything indecent (i.e. pornographic).

Hameeda bulbul is stuck in the 80s and so are you.

You need to have a lot more respect for Hamid Gul because the man is a true patriot. He has never spoken or worked against the country and to put it simply he is a national hero.

Moreover what has changed since the 80s?

Aside from the US now occupying the position of the USSR (particularly when it comes to arming and training Indians) nothing has really changed. Afghanistan is controlled by a puppet government and occupied by foreign forces with an ongoing indigenous struggle to expel it, Kashmir is still occupied by India who commit horrendous crimes against our people, we have foreign forces continuing to infiltrate our borders, etc...

China is probably the only country I would consider a strategic partner but in general Pakistan has no friends or allies. You continually thinking the US, a country that officially wanted to abandon us in 2001 for India before they decided to invade Afghanistan and has betrayed us on more than one occasion, is a friend or ally is ridiculous.

Pakistan must work to pursue its own strategic interests. If the US wants to be considered an ally they need to be mindful of our strategic interests and return Aafia Siddiqui in which case we can ensure them our support.

And please do not come on this board and defend Ben mofo laden the terrorist.

he may be your peghamber as he is for all the Talib@stards and terrorist symapthizers.

I would ask the same of you. Please do not come on here and defend those who we have eyewitness and testimonial confirmation of attacking Pakistan.

As a state its up to us. Handing over AQ? Why the heck would we hand over a man who knew all the details of our nuclear assets (at that time)?. Raymond Davis case was an embarrassment but Islamic law rules supreme and the victim's family agreed to settlement. Whats with the holier-then-thou attitude? Remember the Bhopal case and how the criminal got scot free? What has India achieved till now in that case?

LOLL. You still have not answered the $61,000 dollar question!
Did Dr. Afridi KNOW that he was working for the CIA?

I did, Pakistani authorities have established this and American journalists covering the story also accept that he regularly met and gave information to American handlers - Govt of America to my knowledge has not accepted 'meeting the handler' part (Probably because they still hope to get him out). Its surprising you think spies should only be tried once the agency that hires them accepts them as such? Try that in India.

National hero was neck deep in promoting extremism in Pakistan - net result is 50,000 Pakistani dead. Who is responsible for those deaths? Who is responsible for security conditions today which have resulted in severe economic crisis? If TTP is killing Pakistanis (and is Yahood o nasara agent) have Afghan Taliban ever condemned them?
