I guess total foreign reserves are $8 billion and net foreign reserves held by banks other than State Bank of Pakistan is $3 billion.

Army generals like Ayub, Zia, Musharraf worked hand in glove with USA, and received HUGE amount of dollars in direct and indirect flows.

If elected governments do the same, then they too will get influx of dollars.

Why it is so hard to understand?

Military generals do not have printing presses to make dollars. They make Pakistan work for USA.

Just like Chinese government makes it people work for USA/EU day and night. And thus they have $4000 billion dollars/Euros in reserve.

Just like INdian government makes its people work for USA/EU day and night, and thus they have $300 billion dollars in reserve.

Just like S Korean government makes its people work for USA/EU day and night, and thus they have $500 billion dollars/Euros in reserve.

Same with Turkey aka NATO member with 150 billion dollars/Euro reserve

Same with Japan

Same with every country that has no natural resources like petroleum or gas.

Dollars coming to Pak go straight to State bank. They are held there to pay the loan installments and for the imports such as petrol.

Typically Generals work with USA to increase the scope of work and thus bring in more dollars and more WB loans.

Pakistan's other dollar earners like exports and middle east remittances have remained flat for many years now.


So please do not spread ignorance.

Kindly add $$ provided by US during Military rule & Politicians rule separately. Do you remember after Musharraf quit & demo crazy govt took over the aid to Pakistan was shot up by US under Kerry Lugar bill? The thing is Military utilize every cent honestly for the benefit of the country whereas politicians first look after their pockets. No one is stupid...if politicians start developing the country like military rulers does then they will be respected but until then i consider politics of Pakistan a horrible joke with awaam.

Well IK is different case...he wanna keep mullas happy. He should be the one worrying about the development of KPK province instead of cheap stunts. We had high hopes from him on development, education & industrialization of KPK but month 8 have arrived & still nothing visible.

Come on...you are just replying for the sake of argument? I just post the source of Transparency International, all you need to do is contact them & ask them. For me their article made alot of sense because i saw Pakistan dramatically collapsing economically soon after Military rule ended in early 2008 & demo crazy govt took charge.
