Foreign Countries Blackmailing Iran

No one is going to help us except ourselves .

To be honest I think china and Russia are worse than the west before the revolution . Iran is in a stage where it can not give up or step back otherwise almost 4 decades of it's resistance , an 8 year of imposed war and dozens of other troubles the west has made for us will be nothing .

The best possible way for Iran is solving the problems in diplomacy that is unlikely as the west is enjoying the current condition , So we need to rely on our own and find some regional allies , partners etc and try to develop the country , improve our management , educational system , industry and above all economy .
we can't reach a good economy until we reach high level of domestic production, unfortunately for years our industry were counting on montage, high profit for the owner and low profit for the country, and our politicians whether parliament or government created a monopoly market for them to make sure they will ignore R&D.
looks like it was U.S that had to fix this corrupted procedure, hopefully all of that will stop now, we simply have no other choice.

Withdraw from geopolitics, democratize and do what you say.

You will realise the world community approaching you to make good relations. You have wonderful culture and history, show this good stuff to the world instead of funding proxies and picking fights with countries who are militarily for now far superior to you.

I guess it is a process all societies go through, when you become more evolved with international relations you will see positivity coming your way.

Learn to coexist and stop picking fights with the US, they will eat you alive. Come back to them when you are stronger.

But most of the facts in this thread are true. China blocked billions of dollars of Iran's oil money and instead offered a list of Chinese products for Iran to choose and buy.

I don't call it a "block". Simply we don't want to take the risk for money transfer.
U.S. imposes sanctions on banks dealing with Iran | Reuters

In addition, think more. Is this completely true, partially true, or just a show to western countries? You have no idea.

The "real" fact is: There is a sanction on Iran and your central bank. And many Chinese companies has been banned by US for doing business with Iran.
US Lists New Iran Sanctions on Several Chinese Firms

Most Chinese companies have big business in western country, they simply can not afford the risk especially those banks.

On the other hand, Iran imports 30(?) billions of goods from China each year. You need buy our stuff anyway, much more than the amount of your oil. If price has no difference, then trade goods for goods, what's the matter? You don't like this way, then think about our situation.

Iran signed a contract with a Chinese firm to make a highway ......
In June 2009, Iran signed a $5 billion ................

Again, possibly for the same reason, those companies don't want to take the risk. Actually we are also the victim of your sanction. If we build all these projects, then we get more oil. Do you agree?

China knows western companies won't develop them for Iran, so it does whatever it likes.

Tell me what exactly we did? and what damage we caused to your country? You only told we did not do. Actually it is a surprise to me that you need others to build a highway which is a pure labor job.

You are right, maybe Iran has done nothing for China, but neither China has done anything for Iran. Countries are not supposed to do anything for each other for free except in some special cases.

The things I mentioned above are realities, you don't need to get super nationalist, because we are blaming our own countrymen.

I am far from a super nationalist, IMO. I think many Iranians are. Because you guys don't think the reason behind the so-called reality, also can't get a solution for your situation. Is it necessary to confront US so aggressively? I don't know.

My first post is simply to counter the title "Foreign Countries (China) Blackmailing Iran", because I really don't know what we blackmailed from your guys? If your answer is oil, I suggest you think deeper.

Last, we did give Iran some supports. For example this recent news: China reiterates opposition to U.S. sanctions on Iran | Reuters. PressTV - Russia, China block move by UN Security Council against Iran. Google then you can find more. And I believe we did build some projects for Iran in the past.

China joined the sanction against Iran until 2010, still it is not a full sanction including oil embargo which US wants. You really can't blame China for this. My own opinion is your president was too aggressive, we are facing great pressure. After all, we have much more cooperation with other counties.

The feeling is mutual, most Iranians would like ties with China to be downgraded to the lowest levels possible, the relations with West must be strengthened instead. As for your question, yes we are giving you a hugely discounted oil, which you don't actually deserve.

If you want to get rid of all China-Iran ties, then do it.

If you want to strengthen relations with the West, then do it.

Who is stopping you?

In fact it is the West that doesn't want to deal with you. I think it's unfair, but they made their own choice not to do business with you.

In the same way, you can choose not to do business with us, if you think we are giving you a bad deal. Just say no to us, and find someone else.

I don't agree with blackmailing thing, as I said I'm blaming our own politicians and China is naturally after its own interests.

Answer my simple question: I agree that China doesn't want to risk transferring money from/to Iran, but why did you accept those projects in first place or didn't drop those projects when you understood you can not do it? Please think logically, you have just wasted time, 5 years precisely, on those projects, without admitting that you can't do it. If you dropped the projects, we would appreciate it really. Do you think I'm saying anyhting out of logic? I have admitted and accepted our own mistakes, it would be nice if you could do it too.

Don't judge based on one user's opinion.
We don't want to downgrade ties with China, and neither China wants it and we both know it.
But there has been some mistakes in our business and trading which will be resolved soon. China and Iran have a 2000 year relationship and it can't be broken easilly.

We made a mistake to give those contracts to Chinese companies when we knew they may not be able to do it due to sanctions, and Chinese did a mistake by not letting those projects go and to delay it for 5 years for different excuses.

I hope our realtions improve based on mutual interests.

Keep in mind the idea behind the thread...

What I really have beef with is that some people think just because the U.S. is their "enemy" they should allow other countries or individuals to openly take advantage of us and do whatever they want. And to me that is idiotic. My audience for this thread were mainly Iranians, if some people are offended that is their problem really (you know who Am I talking about).

Brother, I always say that if you don't like a deal, then don't take it.

I don't know the details of the Chinese companies working in Iran, but if they really are that incompetent, then you should fire them right away and hire other companies.

If you don't like the price that we are buying oil, don't sell it to us.

No hard feelings, it is business.

Personally I have huge respect for Iranian culture and history. Especially the First Persian Empire, which has been a personal favorite of mine.

But business is business, if you feel you are getting a bad deal then don't continue with it. There are plenty of other countries willing to work around the sanctions too.

.
obviously we cant first blame china for selling her bad quality goods to iran. it's our government and leader fault, some idiots Indign men are running the country and decide for everything. they made this situation. if we had a normal relationship with the west, there would be no problem like these.

but at second we should blame china for why they sell their cheap products to iran? china is changing the mind of Iranian people about Chinese products and industrial projects. so if in future we fix our relationship with the west and they will be able to trade and investing here, no one buy chinese product anymore and wont trust them for investing. and it's just because of what china is doing today in iran.

there is no problem with chinese people and we like them. it's just an Economic debate.

My friend, you misunderstood me.
Those companies were not incompetent, and they could do the projects nice and clean, just like other parts of the world and also oilfields in Iraq, it's the National Chinese oil company and it's far from incompetent. But they delayed doing the projects for years and after different excuses. All I'm saying is, if they knew they couldn't do the projects because of sanctions, then they should have dropped it.
I have great respect for China and as it was mentioned in the above post, it's just an economic debate and nothing personal or related to people to people relations.

If they aren't doing the job and delaying on purpose then they deserve to be fired. Irrespective of which country they came from.

Business is business.

Like I said, no hard feelings. You have to look out for your own national interests first, and I understand and agree with that 100%.

:D   :omghaha:
We all have to be against the sanctions, even if we don't support the government in Iran. Because the Sanctions are here to stay for a long time, it's very difficult to get them removed, once they become laws. We might not see sanction free Iran in our lifetime!!!

If you are an Iranian-American you can do something. Even if it's a small step.

Make sure to tell your state's representative, congress, etc.. that you are against Sanctions on Iran.

Neither the house of representative or the senate would give a rat about Iranian Americans, Israel security is what all matters!

Hey,

I really didn't find any English links, but when I was browsing Mehrnews I came upon this: http://www.mehrnews.com/detail/News/2112442

I will try to summarize it:

Its basically explaining how Chinese companies that won the Iranian oil tenders for almost 8 years delayed the development for no reason, whereas the same Chinese companies have finished their projects in Iraq and Qatar!

Additionally I came upon other news (which are old btw) about Chinese refusal to pay for Iranian oil and how they withheld the Iranian money in their banks without paying any interest. Most of the news coming from semi-Official news agencies.

There is no single day passes without reading about low-quality Chinese products pouring into country and endangering Iranian lives, especially Iranian patients!

So, you still think anyone cares about you? Please wake the **** up, countries are using Iran's isolation to make profit out of Iran's miseries!

We are importing poisonous rice from India and Pakistan in exchange for our exports, when do you people want to wake the **** up, I don't know?

But I certainly hope, people or the family members of people who think Chinese, Indians or Pakistanis have best interest of Iranian people at heart be affected by poisonous imported rice, defected Chinese syringes and other imported craps, because only then they can understand the ordinary Iranian's affliction.

And as always, I will be only responding to people who I deem worthy of my time.

I don't know about poisonous rice since i eat plenty of Pakistani and indian rice here in the US and have never come across any "poisonous" rice and hopefully i never do.

However, i will admit that certain Pakistani products are lacking in quality. I once bought Pakistani wheat and opened the bag only to have moths flying all over the place.

China is looking for oil anywhere they could be found all over the world, and now they got oil license from Iran and they just sit on it and do not want to develop it!

Why? They do not want the oil? Or they would lose money? Something not making sense here.

And about the delay payment, I think I heard that Iranian bank has been cut off from the international banking system. Maybe because of that, China would not be able to transfer the payment to Iranian bank.

our basmati rice is world famous and fit for consumption the world over but somehow its 'poisonous' for iranians

if you don't want our rice , dont buy it

and please enlighten us what are the iranian exports that come into Pakistan in exchange for pakistani exports to iran ?

truth be told the only thing iran is exporting to Pakistan is unrest in Gawader and scetarian bs.
