"Forced to hang my head in shame": Former Navy chief writes open letter to President Mukherjee, PM M

I can only discuss the present and the past. The future is beyond my reach. There are no facts to prove what you wrote above. In fact the only major change in perception in the villages (and I go to such places very often) is the positive impression of the Bank accounts for all, sanitation, toilets everywhere etc and increased dal price as a negative.
Not ONE even had even heard of the Sahitya Academy Awards or their returning.

Total bullshit............probably u went to villages with 100% hindus or 100% muslims.
Either way u are either making up these things or u never went anywhere.

I do believe u are deliberately omitting many things but its expected as u have a contrarian view to that of the author of the article,,its expected.

The problem is u are totally ignoring what 200 crore people are thinking.

.
I work with 4 muslim co workers(technicians) in a medical college and let me tell u all of them feel that something is off.And they are not wrong.

This divide was always there,,its just after 2014 that people are openly coming out.
Yeah because after may 2014 sh!t hit the fan ... and what you see all around us is Indian secularism in it's full glory.

.
as a "hardline hindutva guy", may I inquire as what exactly is your ideology ?

as far as I know, we're not an "organized religion" like the abrahamic faiths with literal "word of god" orders to blindly follow from a holy book.

to question is "halal".. aethist, agnostic, tamsic.. all are "kosher"

I have no beef with "beef", or other people's personal matters of sexuality, faith and what have you...

well,we also have many clear rules and there are halaal and haraam things but not so strict that one will get punished severely.

The broad idea is to make a person understand why he/she does x/y/z instead of doing it blindly.

Atheism/Agnosticism and all are fine but if it is genuine, being atheist because it is cool generally has poor consequences for self and society.

We are indeed not a political party like christianity or hinduism but we are not as loose and scattered as you imagine.

U are no one to pass judgement on whats right or wrong. Why not mind ur own work and let people decide what they are and what they want?

Thats not true,i am not talking about people who genuinely dont rate it but am talking about those who confuse themselves and the rest with their half baked understanding of things and i do have a right sir.

Indian secularism was always a myth,,,what pains me is that after getting this massive majority, rather than trying to make an inclusive society all that rss is doing is making a hindu society.

As i said earlier,good for u if u are a follower.But what about others??

.
The bigger picture is

We have 20% minorities and none will share ur views.................zilch.I do not consider myself even religious or a minority so i am not biased at all.

How are we gonna coax those people? Are we trying to compete with those people in intolerance index??
This is nothing but being paranoid.
Best point so far. Thank God.

This is the thinking that drives appeasement. The expectation is that Hindus need to compromise a bit so that the rest of the narrative falls in place without disturbance. Hindus should NEVER rock the boat.

Which is grossly unfair to Hindus. Has always been.

One crucial factor is that the minorities are not crying. Certainly not 20% of them. Not even 14%(meaning Muslims) are in fact. The anxiety is almost entirely manufactured. Almost entirely manufactured.

I know that all people can follow their religions as strictly as they want without compromising on inter religious relations. I don't believe anything has been done to disturb that. Else provide examples.

.
I was not worried; I wouldn't be. It was just an observation in passing. My fears and hallucinations are no doubt part of the next act? What will it be this time?

Your fears and hallucinations are solely your property.

Just as the fears and hallucinations of all the "Darbaris", J.F. Rebeiro's, Admiral Ramdos's, Munavaar Rana's and others.

You all are different faces of same coin.

Who want to dictate, "Its my way or the Highway".

Simply offer a bold narrative. Like may be Taslima. Or Rushdie (I know he has abused RSS before)
But they remain untouchable. That is the problem with our pseudo seculars.

That is where the problem lies. Without a better alternative, how do you think Indians can even try to make a better decision. We should not believe in angels from the sky with what we SHOULD do now, or should we?

What exactly changed? Can you summarize it?

:disagree: I went to regular villages. Regular villages. Where Indians reside. I did not ask their religion, I admit that. :agree:

In any case, what anxiety do you expect them to have?

Whats wrong here?
It is a truth that muslims are more rigid that other religions,,,does that mean we start competing with them??

Seriously?

What do u think will happen? It will be counter productive making them even more hateful and aloof.
Plus the hindu society that could have been called moderate some centuries ago is constantly acting like an organized ogre bent on destroying anyone who does not live by their standards and rules.

I mean i may be killed tomorrow if found eating beef for god's sake.It makes me shiver in fear.

An average joe doesn't give a toss about these things. He cares about his family, his livelihood. Give them a secure and thriving environment, and they couldn't care less about these issues. And that is what Modi government is trying to do.

The level of tolerance or intolerance has not changed on the ground. in the media yes, but on the ground no. If we go by the media reports and the number of articles and open letters that are popping up these days it would seem like India is undergoing some sort of civil war, when the reality is that number of deaths due to communal riots are at an all time low. What we need to do is strengthen the law and order apparatus and nip any such incidents in the bud and that's it.

I mean when you have someone like Vikram Seth threatening to return his awards because of the growing intolerance and religious bigotry in the country you know something is amiss.

Here's Vikram Seth receiving an award from Jagdish Tytler, the beacon of secularism

The inherent bias of the author is so much visible in this article that it does not even deserve a discussion.
This has been a systematic, well organized propaganda by the Left liberal media to confuse and influence the voters so as to change the outcome of the Bihar elections. Notice two things:

- The beef incident has been blown out of proportion to influence the Muslim voter
- The Dalit incident to obviously influence the Dalit voter

Our Left liberal media knows that Bihar is the last bastion of this Right wave. If this is breached the Left Liberals will have no place to take refuge and will be uprooted from the Indian political scene. So expect more such news and open letters to media.

.
Give them a secure and thriving environment,

Are they getting a secure environment??
I don't think so and neither does any minority.

I challenge u to ask any practicing sikh, muslim or a christian this question.
I am out as i don't follow a religion.

It does not matter what u think but what the other 20% are thinking. And trust me the levels of distrust were never higher.

Sadly there is no cure for this hate now,,too freaking late.
