The only solution is the coal thermal power projects before west applied sections on this unclean source of energy for setting up of new power plants pakistan should setup as many you can.

Forget china its of no use they will talk big but won't help you, go with the Turkey or Saudi Arabia for funding.

Other wise the demand and supply gap and economy degradation will be unrepairable for decades.

Solar Panels are expensive yet. Better to try wind-power.

But why not start with the basics:
Use power more efficiently, don't waste it.
Pay for the power used, don't steal it.
Force your local government guys to enforce both the above.

Meh.. as if India does it well... In Hajipur I went for a visit and people get Rs 75 month electricity and 18 hours there is no ele... and rest it's everyday Diwali. We Ind-Pak are same when it comes to be a responsible citizen.

39 percent professionals sit idle during loadshedding: report

Some 91 percent of professionals have reported productivity losses due to load shedding at workplace with 64 percent saying that the losses have been very significant. A latest survey by ROZEE.PK that invited over 3000 respondents from all over Pakistan (193 cities to be precise) has revealed that 64 percent of the employed respondents profess significant productivity loss in their work routine, whereas only 8 percent feel their work productivity has not been affected by loadshedding.

It comes as no shock when facing an average of 8 hours of load shedding and, 67 percent of the employed sector feels tired and lazy at work the next day. Load shedding indeed has serious repercussions on the employed population and the exceptionally honest population of Pakistan admits being lazy at work. An average of 68 percent Lahore, Islamabad-Rawalpindi and Peshawar feels lethargic at work the next day, considering the employed residents face more than 8 hours of load shedding at home the previous day. Karachi yet again doesn't get affected as much as its peers with 54 percent employed population feeling unproductive at work due to excessive load shedding at work.

As many as 39 percent professionals sit idle during load shedding; 61 percent have continuous power at work through backup generators and 53 percent of them spend extra time at office as a result. Some 42 percent Pakistanis have revealed that they do not own a back up (electric) power supply at home, said the survey. As many as 38 percent of professionals have no backup power at home and of those that do have backup, the majority (43%) use UPSs.

The real shocking revelation is made by the 9 percent employed sector that does not have a back up facility at their workplace. With an average load shedding of 4-8 hours each day in their workplace, this 9 percent employed population is left idle with no backup power during the load shedding hours. Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad-Rawalpindi feeling the heat; Karachi, not so much!

Peshawar faces more than 12 hours of load shedding every day, considerably more than what the Lahore and Islamabad-Rawalpindi population is facing. However, Karachi seems to be the luckiest of them all, facing an average of 4-8 hours of power outage per day. The scenario is same for the working population in the aforementioned cities; with Karachi being the city least hit by load shedding. Despite owning a power-back up facility, 39 percent employed population admitted being plunged into darkness during load shedding hours. An entire power shut down leaves them sitting on their hands till the power comes back on.

Load shedding - cause of grave concern for the employers 66 percent professionals from Lahore, 62 percent from Islamabad-Rawalpindi, 60 percent from Karachi and 56 percent from Peshawar do not want to leave work early because they have no uninterrupted power supply back home. This may be in favour of the working population (to sit at office longer) but is an added cost to the employer. 'President Zardari is causing this Darkness' as believed by 79 percent Pakistan, 40 percent blamed his party's lack of concern towards the population who voted for them to power.

most people in tamil nadu except chennai has recently gone through 9 hr shut downs - although it was not continuous but with breaks - still it was unbearable - cant imagine how people go about their life with 16 + hrs of cuts - feel really bad for the people being affected .

Did you see the list of biggest blackout ..it includes USA also....It is just a news....nobody worry about it anymore.

Anyways 1 day blackout is nothing compare to 365 days blackout...

Don't steal it.....huh.........almost every other home in Karachi is stealing power....how that can be done.

We could do wind-power but sorry to say I don't believe our people. They will blow those too. so its better to put the solar panel on top of your home. I know it is expensive.....but what is cheap now? its one time shot and you are done for 30-40 years.....People in Pakistan have lot of money. I am sure they can afford that.
