Pakistan: 'facing a real threat of food, water & energy insecurity' - Press Conference (19 May 2022)

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said that his country is facing “a real threat of food insecurity, water insecurity and energy insecurity that has obviously been exacerbated by recent geopolitical development.”

Following a Security Council meeting in New York, Zardari told journalists in New York on Thursday (19 May) that “as a result of the COVID pandemic and the climate crisis and economic situations across the world, these issues are far more endemic than that and from problematic than that.”

The Minister noted that “Pakistan is one of the most climate stressed countries at the moment” and all of Pakistan is currently declared to be in a situation of drought, with temperatures in April that used to only be seen in the peak heat of the summer.

Zardari also noted that Pakistan relies heavily on Ukraine for the import of wheat and fertilizer.

On Wednesday, the UN hosted a Global Food Security Call to Action meeting of foreign ministers from approximately 30 regionally diverse countries to review the urgent humanitarian and development needs and then identify steps to address global food security, nutrition, and resilience.

Zardari said the meeting would help Pakistan and other developing countries “in addressing the sort of imminent crisis of food security”, but for short, medium and long term the world needs “a far more comprehensive approach that also focuses on conflict resolution on dialogue, diplomacy and the pursuit of peace.”

I hate this man, his family and his party but I agree with almost everything he has stated here. Credit where it's due he conducted this press conference very professionally except for the bullsh*t at 37:15-41:20 other than that his answers were well balanced and noteworthy. I am glad that he defended the previous government's trip to Russia at 49:05-49:33.

His press conference at un was balanced and it was as per Pakistan policy. But i don't think these were his own views but state policy he was asked to follow as 2 other pakistan un members were also present.

Pakistan is rich in almost every resource, but thanks to your mother( hope she rots in hell) and your father we are in this situation.

His mother still has $2 billion dollars stashed away in a swiss account and she's dead. Imagine how much the alive ones have hidden away in trusts and offshore account. These parasites drained Pakistan's resources.

Don't forget to curse his grandfather for splitting the country into two and then destroying the remaining country with socialism and nationalization.

That is probably just one account, there might be more.

Im pretty sure even $2 trillion cant help her where she is now. Same goes for every harmkhor elite child in this country. Remember that everyone who doesnt get justice under thier rule is gonna cost them eternity in hell. Sometimes i cant sleep while thinking of little childrens dying of hunger in Pakistan and yet we have these mfs who have heart diseases because of how much red meat they consume. May Allah SW help us and guide us to the right path. Right now we are pretty fucked.
