Most of the air passengers are carried by foreign airlines or somewhat private domestic airlines.So Biman's lack of plane is not that important. But neglecting air force like this of a populous country like Bangladesh or the armed forces as a whole which also sits on a militarized neighborhood is certainly a crime.

Bangladesh may not come under attack by anyone in present scenarios, but things can change at any times.Plus even if not outright attack, Bangladesh may subjected to intimidation by neighboring countries on various issues. The truth is Bangladesh sits on a neighborhood where all countries take armed forces quite seriously.Why they would take armed forces seriously if they do not believe in sorting things out by military forces? So Bangladesh can not and should not live in a fool's paradise of a false sense of security. Ukraine also thought, nobody is going to attack them, specially when under Budapest memorandum, all the great powers promised Ukraine's territorial integrity.So Ukraine allowed rusting their armed forced until Crimea happened. The steep prizes of that mistake they are paying very dearly now in Donbas front line.

The objective of investing in armed forces for Bangladesh is not about fighting with India but to maintain a minimum deterrence so that if it comes under attacks by anyone(not necessarily always India), Bangladesh can defend more capably. Deterrence is not about attacking and winning against the enemy but to make the enemy win prohibitively costly or denying the enemy even a win!(stalemate or bogging down the occupying enemy with continuous casualties in a hostile terrain)
It looks you guys over estimate India too much . But in reality Bangladesh is called defence heaven, so it's not very easy to invade and defeat us in our land.
why someone need war or weapons when BD is already part of india ? what india need BD provide them before even delhi open lips and ask. sometime BD bark enemies of india more then indians themselves to prove that they are faithful slaves .i don't think india will ever go hard on BD because BD will not give a chance to Delhi
