U don't unedrstand, Problem was never HAL or DRDO (ADA). Problem was with IAF. There are some bad apple in IAF who sabotaged the LCA project by changing requirements.

Defence minister knows how to deal with such criminals... HAL will produce 18 planes in given time.. and Defense minister will force IAF to take the squadron..

So its a forced induction against iaf will.
Iaf is right , they are not compromising on quality.

First four will be handed over to the IAF this year in FOC standard, next year HAL will produce 8 LCA and thereafter 16/year so by mid/late 2017 the first Sqn will be ready, thereafter the second one will be ready in late 2018.


It is simply a matter of attaining FOC now and production will be ramped up from there, no big deal really.

No chance of 4 planes in FOC configuration this year.
Even the FOC by this year is highly doubtful.
How will HAL double the production to 16 jets in 1 abd half yr.

This financial year is what I meant. FOC this year is all but confirmed, HAL have said they aren't looking to push it beyond the current deadline of Dec 2015 so I see no reason to doubt FOC is going to be achieved this year. As for how production will be ramped up- the facilities are already there, the tooling is in place, the capital (human and machine) has been put in place and calibrated all that is needed is FOC. The IAF was said to be pushing for 16/year from 2016 but I don't see this as happening but it will certainly happen in 2017.

Exactly and am aware of CAG report. If we get capable LCA by 2017 is also ok to digest . But incomplete fighter with huge time delay is just mindboggling . I like to recall the Americans expression when they visited tejas .They was baffled by the way we worked on this life line project of India soo badly and unprofessionally.

They are being forced to fly those 60s era MIGs as lca is yet to become mature and potent aircraft

When is SP-2 ready? Let's say next year. If so, by 2016 2 planes SP-1 and SP-2. To form the first squadron needs 18 planes. 2017 IMO not possible.
