I think it's time for me to put the bottle down...... because I just pictured a black shark torpedo being fired, and all the while it's traversing the ocean to it's target, inbuilt speakers on the torpedo start playing "why this kolaveri, kolaveri diiiii". Atleast sonar operators on the opposing side will have something to laugh about before their world goes kaput

Why not use the french AIP in the first few subs?
Its already tried and tested technology. ?

Afaik , Navy favours AIP based on fuel cells technology rather than MESMA which is based on sterling cycle .

Also Pakistan is integrating 3 of their Agosta90B with MESMA .

I think those are the two reasons why Navy rejected the MESMA proposal .

Also Pakistan will be the first user of MESMA , it has not yet been integrated with any other subs .

Is that completely developed?

Yes , land based AIP prototype has been successfully tested .

Some important points to note.
1. First scorpene submarine 'Ins Kalvari' to be inducted in 2016.
2. After that other submarines will be inducted after every 8 months.
3. All sub's will be delivered before 2018-2019.

Seriously is it going to be named INS Kalvari!I mean it sounds similar to INS Kolaveri.Then if there is a problem in this sub all will start to sing"why this Kolaveri di"

Kalvari classsubmarines were the first submarines inducted into the Indian Navy. They were variants of the early Soviet Foxtrot class submarines.

Name is not as fierce as Arihant.

If they are deployed as it is said, there is nothing like this.

Kalvari means Tiger Shark. All foxtrot subs were names after Desi names of different species of sharks.
Anyway no submarine will first announce its name before attacking..
