If the savings were from small arms and ammunition then it is hardly the same as a brilliant org which develops new and exciting products.

6 billion dollars of small arms and ammunition???? Mate DRDO doesnot arm the whole world.

I KNOW this Key. I am saying that seeing as the armed forces have rejected LOTS of $hit from DRDO, that they were trying to force down the armed forces throat, whatever they have accepted is GOOD.

Yeah one of the major complaint from DRDO is that services accept foreign systems with multiple faults without a blink,while it's products are made to undergo delibrate trials until they meet 100% of the "ever changing requirements"

Hence reste assured that the service will make DRDO toil before they accept anything from them.

DRDO could not even make their own SAM and suddenly they announce that they have successfully made a 190 MW nuclear reactor for a nuclear submarine :lol:

I guess it is the scientists in thier morning shift, makes the SAM, and during their afternoon shift they go and make Nuclear Reactor for the submarine. :rofl: :rofl:

What is interesting is India has a desire to be self reliant even if it comes to highly advanced tech. They might not have commissioned the Arjun or the ATV, but they are gaining a know-how which will one day make them save billions in defence tech.

With 37 major warships being inducted over the next 5-7 years, the 500 designers in the DGND will have their hands full, saving India an estimated Rs 2,00,000 crore (US $50 billion) when compared with the cost of acquiring those 37 warships from the international market.

And who calls DRDO a failure. Look at what they have produced.

Good work Talwar, well there is much more that DRDO have produced then above if you go throughly from their Websites.

Another thing is that you no need to justify wheather DRDO is failure or successful, rather those who call it as a failure often demonstrate that their failure in understanding and taking note of success of DRDO.

Hope people know what the Indian private sector is capable of!!

A behemoth in the making.
India may not become super power in the next 10 years, but would be a big regional player..and moderate world player.
