Finally, Indian Govt Clears $2.4-bil Mirage Upgrade Deal

.
The price is about right. 10 million per jet for the upgrade. 30 million for the French profit. 40 millions to pay off the Indian officials, which barely covers everyone in the approval process. Thank you for your hard work in paying taxes to support your country. Now stopping browsing the web and go back to work. The next upgrade project is coming up...

ashamed of being pakistani? :rofl: false flag troll.

^ That guy is a well known false flag troll. Once argued with him.

I think the deal is not expensive as we are getting new systems many of those are from Rafale.

.
yeah but we could have gotten the same hi tech technology in a upgrade with Israel for way less and IMO Elta IAI and Rafael would have given the same capable if not better weapons, radar, avionics, and other modern upgrades to make the Mirage 2000 a 4++ gen aircraft

As often stated before...

... we still had to go to the French for the overhaul of the airframe and additional hardpoints, possibly engine upgrades. Splitting the upgrade makes it costlier and more complicated and keep in mind that we are talking about 51 fighters only and not like more than 100 like it is the case with Jags.
Also, the $4 billion so far is just speculated by the Indian media so far (like many other things as well), I didn't saw a single western report quoting the same figure. They still saying it costs $2.1 to 2.4 billion, which is a big difference, so lets wait for official statements how costly and what the upgrade really would include.

IAI could have provided airframe changes and additional hardpoints as for engines we could have issued a separate tender to Pratt and Whitney GE Snecma etc in the end it would have been cheaper to go with Israel

waow price of brand new
Mig 29k - around 48 million${including spares}

Gripen NG-around 55-60 million {with AESA}

F 18 SH- around 60 million ${i think that was wat offered to India in MRCA competition}

J 10b- around 40 million$

And here we are wasting 48 million$ on upgrading a 30 year old piece of scrap...and mind this upgrade doesn't include engine.......hhh wat a waste of money.....and then we say that why Russia is charging us so much for there aircrafts

LOLLL, Its funny and at the same time disappointing. I Have to agree with u here, Y would a Mirage upgrade costs $48m, its F*uck outrageous cost ? How many corrupt officials tummy would be filled with Indian looted money? And then India has to buy MMRCA as well.

French are bloody suckers for money!!!

one member on idf was saying that we want complete upgrade that only manufacturer means France can offer

Israel gave us a quote of 1.2 billion for the upgrade half the price the french offered

There is a clause to go to OEM i guess.... Other wise there would be a global RFP.. As Sancho stated.. the additional hard points will be a boost.. it will 4 missile on the airframe instead on the wings... Sadly there is no engine upgrade..

so there is a weird OEM clause? and who put this there? we bought MiG-21's from the SU decades ago but IAI upgraded them to MiG-21 Bison standard i bet this "clause" was put there by corrupt procurement officials to get kickbacks from OEM's

IAI could have done the same upgrade for more hardpoints too bro listen i'm not saying we should not upgrade the mirages but 2.4-4 billion for a upgrade of 51 jets from the 80's? come on thats way too much France wouldn't have cared if we had Israel upgrade them look at my above post see what we could have gotten from Israel

and as for the engine problems we could just Install Kaveri engines on them when its ready although there may need to be design changes for the Mirage 2000 but its a possibility

Can Israel give an engine upgrade offer

.
Can Israel give an engine upgrade offer

no Israel cannot give engine upgrade offer but the mirage upgrade offer does not include Engine upgrade we could just equip the new upgraded mirages with Kaveri engines back home or could issue global tender for new engines

No they can't without the approval of the French, because they remains with all rights of the fighter. We can chance parts, but not the basic fighter and the Israelis can't do such comprehensive changes.

so there is a weird OEM clause? and who put this there? we bought MiG-21's from the SU decades ago but IAI upgraded them to MiG-21 Bison standard

The Bisons just have some Israeli EWS parts, the rest is completely Russian

And again you are just speculating, Kaveri engine at the moment offers less thrust than the French engines have already and the don't have to be changed because they have more life than the Russian counterparts, but there are some reports that speculates on upgrades on the current engines.

.
So...basically they are almost at rafale's standards. IF we select rafale, it will be 126+51=177!!! Nice move.

The MRCA order is going to be more than 126 dude. Take it in written, a minimum of 200. You don't reach an optimum squadron strength of 45+ squads with just 126 new jets.

It would be very premature word to say.
It depends on Tejas Mk success.
The other FGFA(Light weight proposal by Russia )/AMCA developments will effect that.
Success of Mirage upgrade(Now it is confirmed)
Jaguar Upgrade
Any we are giving an option of extra 64-74 aircrafts whose future would depend on The above reasons.
