FIGHTER AIRCRAFT :MARKET ANALYSIS BY JON LAKE

becoz

it states about fighter aircraft market only
& china has managed to sell only 2 aircrafts j7 & jf 17

nobody has bought j10 ,welll rumours are there about pak airforce getting J10b ,but ????no progress yet

The only country inducted JF-17 is Pakistan. Even China has rejected it. They themselves considered JF-17 to be an upgraded version of their 3rd gen fighter J-7. They invested in this project to keep their export to smaller nations in Africa intact and not for them. But eventually they found a new customer in the face of Pakistan which after facing saction had no were to go. And now they are trying to make it close to 4th gen fighter by planning to integrate AESA radar. And this way they can eventually rise the price of JF-17. AESA radar on JF-17 will be of no use because of high RCS of JF-17 due to their full aluminium body which will eventually see in war condition easily giving their location far before than be able to track the enemy fighters.

That is true about the J-7 and JF-17. And besides, China has been exporting the J-7 for a long time. The JF-17 is still a very new design, and Pakistan is the only active user right now.

As far a modern 4+ generation fighters are concerned, mass-producing turbofan engines is not the greatest strength of the Chinese.

If anyhow the J-10 is exported to some country right now, it'd very likely to be running on a Russian engine. That just hurts the product's feasibility in the market during the long run.

It'd take years or maybe even a decade for them to fully master the art of producing turbofan engines, such that they can export large quantities of such planes to overseas markets. It really is no child's play.

By the way, China recently acquired some Su-35BMs from Russia :D
China to receive Su-35 fighter aircraft from Russia - Airforce Technology
Russia to sell 24 Su-35 fighter planes to PRC - Taipei Times
Russia and China Close to SU-35 Deal…Again

How do come up with that conclusion highlighted above?

Based on fighter class. Not technical specifications.

lolllz

well i hope no chinese is watching your posts as this news have been discussed time & again in this forum with no real incidents happenings in reality:lol:

They were initially rumors :agree:

And let's hope for their sake this is the last kind of such deals :D

Say, $1.5 billion is cheap....I wonder why my country is not looking into this

How do come up with that conclusion highlighted above? Is this is Baghdad bob analysis? because even Pakistan will tell you that their F16 new batch is far superior... if it weren't then why did they insist on fighting to get it?

J-10 performs a similar role in PLAAF as F-16 does in USAF but still it must be accepted that the
F-16C Block-52+ and Block-60 that are currently operational in the world's air forces are far ahead of
J-10A and most probably the in-development J-10B as well.

But then there is going to be this new F-16V variant for the international market - proven platform,
reputed supplier, good quality, good product support - these 4 aspects will again triumph over any possible
J-10A/B version China could put on sale on the global maket for middle-class air forces, given high-class
ones will be going for either 5th generation ac like F-35A/B/C and PAKFA/FGFA or
European Typhoons/Rafales/Gripens and low-class ones would
prefer cheaper jets like JF-17 Block-I/II over J-10 versions.

Hehehe same was thought after china copied Su-27 into J-11 and flew J-10A. Even after so-called
fifth-generation jets like J-20 and J-31 come, china will still be looking to buy a few PAKFAs from Russia:rofl:

Say, $1.5 billion is cheap....I wonder why my country is not looking into this

I think Bd's threat perception is not high enough to demand such a high-end air superiority fighter.

READING JON LAKES ARTICLE I THINK we can suggest that taking the fifth Generation fighters OUT for now the rank for the best fighter OVERALL regardless of cost in the world today and ignoring threat of sanctions would be as follows

F15 SILENT EAGLE
Dassult RAFALE F3/ Typhoon
F18 Super Hornet
F16/60
SU35
SU30MKI
F16SUFI/F16/52
J10/FC20

I have come to the conclusion the iaf MMRCA TRIAL came up with the right decision for IAF.
