FC recovers, Indian made Purified Terephthalic Acid in Panjgoor Balochistan operation.

The reason we are not discussing flour and so on is because that isn't the substance that has been found.

We are arguing about possible use of PTA. Which has no known property as an explosive or detonator etc. In all sense inferior to even common household items.

May be Indian govt wanted them to drop the weapons and rehabilitate as a polyester/cloths manufacturer!

I have explained earlier that due to our clampdown on fertilizer supplies, it is predictable that the insurgents are using low explosives from unorthodox means.

This particular discovery is worrisome from our perspective.

That is a different issue. Certainly anything of Indian origin in the hand of a terrorist should raise eyebrows. I only contended the insinuation that PTA has possible application as a bomb, detonator or anything relevant.

It has been explained clearly earlier that it may not be an explosive enough to leak a pipeline but maybe being used as an agent or a catalyst to produce other materials that can cause such an explosive reaction.

I also mentioned that its use as a detonator or anything relevant for explosive making is nil. All the data regarding PTA is public, you can search for a single practical method where it helps an explosive.

@Roybot

The thread was started with a bang, but you just converted it to Funny and Stupid Thread with facts.

Keep the good work.

The only military use of PTA is in smoke grenades and about 30 Million tonnes of it are produced around the world.

Terephthalic acid is the organic compound with formula C6H4(COOH)2. This colourless solid is a commodity chemical, used principally as a precursor to the polyester PET, used to make clothing and plastic bottles. Several million tonnes are produced annually.

And the funniest thing, India legally exports Terephthalic acid to Pakistan! :woot:

India to start exporting petro products to Pakistan - Economic Times

India had exported some petrochemicals such as purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and lube oil base stock (LOBS) to Pakistan through the sea route. Later, former oil minister Murli Deora also proposed to export PTA from Indian Oil Corp's Panipat refinery to Pakistan through land route via Wagah border. But proposals remained on paper due to political tensions, especially after the Mumbai attack.

Super riposte!!

Now that should shut up a lot of people here who would have been jumping for joy at the OPs 'sensational' post. India finally caught with its pants down, helping the BLA!! Yeeay!! :yahoo:

But damn! That fell flat as a pancake!! :(

Better luck next time to the OP!!

I HATE CHEMISTRY VERY MUCH.

Should keep trying with a lot of research next time IMO.

Lot of cases with getting owned while searching for sensationalism out of fake pride which ends in embarrassment, if any.

Do you really think, the topic was researched before posting by OP.
