QUETTA: Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan chief, Major General Sher Afgan, on Monday said Indian and Afghan intelligence agencies were involved in the prevailing unrest in the restive province.

He said spy agencies of the two countries were behind subversive activities to disrupt peace in the province. "However, our forces with the support of masses foiled designs of enemies", Major General Sher Afgan told reporters at FC headquarters.

More than 50,000 FC personnel have been guarding the border along Afghanistan, and provide security to 416 kilometres of gas pipelines, 300 kilometres of railway lines and other vital national installations in Balochistan, said Maj Gen Afghan.

"Terrorism is the biggest problem in the province", he said. The FC chief said despite receiving support from abroad, only a handful of miscreants were present in Balochistan, adding that "their number is on a constant decline".

In response to a question, Maj Gen Sher Afgan said the government had already announced a Rs5 billion compensation package for militants laying down their weapons before security forces, adding that amounts ranging from Rs0.5 million to Rs1.5 million were being paid to militants who became part of the peace process.

He reiterated that efforts to make Quetta violence free and to ensure rule of law were underway, adding that no compromises would be made in this regard.

The FC chief said combined efforts of law-enforcement agencies and the administration had helped in improving the law and order situation in the province.

Earlier, media personnel were given a detailed briefing on the overall law and order situation of the insurgency-hit province.

Reporters were informed that a 500 km trench had been dug out along the porous Pak-Afghan border to stop the flow of weapons and narcotics into Pakistan.

The width and depth of the trench is 10 feet by 10 feet, said, said Major General Sher Afgan, adding that it had helped security forces in stemming the flow of narcotics and weapons from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

Raheel Sharif is on a roll. For the first in recent history, the Corps Commanders and all other officers are being pushed beyond their barracks and mess halls.

Slowly, but surely, this Balochistan unrest will be a thing of the past. Indians and Tarek Fatah can then suck on it and die of stroke.

The number of Indian consulates in a country with insignificant cultural, geographical and economic links with India is a testament to the fact that Indian presence is there for reasons other than 'issuing visas to Afghans'

Show me the proof...simply talking won't do.

I was expecting something on these lines after Gurdaspur and Naved episodes.

India should use every platform to expose Pakistan and keep Pakistan under constant pressure. All countries surrounding Pakistan: Afghanistan, India and Iran are complaining the same.

Yes, except Pakistan doesn't like to share the details over media unlike India. We get the message across surely.

if you can't share it then its not good enough ,then what's the point in blaming India.
you guys have been blaming for so many years now,you don't have to provide proof for everything but not providing proof for even one won't you feel your agencies are not telling the full truth.

In past the proof of Indian involvement in Pakistan was given to ur ex-Pm manmohan Singh and the rest of proof will be handed over to ur govt..here on forum if we ask u to give us solid proof of Pakistan involvement in Mumbai attacks then u will not be able come up with documents or tapes & other things, will u give us the hard proof..on forums it's irrelevant to ask for solid proof..based on politicians/army generals statement we can get no where as they don't share it with it's citizens, they just blame and the rest of the game is behind doors & to involve third party to put pressure on the country so she can halt it's terrorists sponsoring activities!

Comment on this made by me in a different thread:

Pakistan claims it has evidence but does not produce it. A bit like a child turning in a blank sheet after a painting class and when asked what it was to say the following :

A:It's a cow in a meadow.

Q: Where is the grass?
A: The cow has eaten it all up.

Q:Where is the cow then?
A: What will it do there after having eaten the grass, it has moved on elsewhere.....
