QUETTA: Provincial chief of Jamhoori Watan Party Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti has been detained at Buleli Check Post by the Frontier Constabulary (FC) after weapons recovered from vehicles in his convoy, Geo News reported Wednesday.

He was coming back from Chaman after attending fateha of Jeelani Khan Achakzai. The FC intercepted the 12-vehicle fleet at 04:00 am for checking at the check post. The security personnel detained the JWP leader along with his fellowmen.

Shahzain Bugti is the grandson of late Baloch leader Nawab Mohammed Akbar Khan Bugti and Chief of Jamhoori Watan Party.

DIG Operations Quetta Hamid Shakil and officers of other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) reached the spot. He told media persons that the paramilitary force have detained Shahzain and his party men. The FC has recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition and would return the licensed weapons if found any, he added.

While, talking to Geo News Shahzain said he has been victimized and the arms belonged to FC. 'I am talking to US Embassy about the incident.'

According to the sources heavy weaponry has been recovered from the custody of JWP leader.

Shahzain Bugti also tried to escape from the scene but the LEAs failed his attempt.

It is pertinent to mention here that on December 10, 2010 Shahzain had announced to lead a march from Kashmore, Sindh, on Jan 28 to be terminated in Dera Bugti for the return of displaced Bugti people to their home.

He also said that over 100,000 people of the Bugti tribe had migrated to Nasirabad and Jaffarabad districts during the military operation and after the murder of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti by security forces in 2006.

In the morning while leaving to work I got the glimpse of the news at that point the news caster had mentioned that Bhugti had been let go. It was shocking at that time and even more now when I read the kind and amount of ammo that was caught. WTF is he trying to do. I hope that the authorities act wisely and extract some answers from these guys. And also if I am not mistaken, by law it is not legal to have AK's in your custody. ( not sure about it so I would appreciate it if come one can correct that if I am wring)

. . .
bravo, the weapons must also be searched where it was made and bought/purchased, and through which people they got the weapons.. there will surely be some india/iran/USA or afghanistan in it..
