ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Monday that his next big challenge would be to replace debit and credit cards in the country with a mobile phone payment mechanism.

“It is necessary for payments to be made easy for technological advancement. Inshallah in the next few months you will be able to make all your payments through your mobile from your bus ticket to purchasing a new car,” Chaudhry wrote on Twitter.

The minister termed this initiative as his “next big challenge” after the launch of a first ever lunar calendar in Pakistan.

On May 21, the Ministry of Science and Technology unveiled a Lunar Calendar for five years having details from Year 2019 to 2024.

As per the lunar calendar, Eid ul Fitr is likely to fall on June 05 and Eid ul Azha on August 12 this year.

In Year 2020, 1st Ramazan will likely to fall on April 25, Eid ul Fitr on May 24 and Eid ul Azha on July 31, the calendar said.

According to the lunar calendar, in Year 2021, 1st Ramazan will likely to fall on April 14, Eid ul Fitr on May 14 and Eid ul Azha on July 21.

Jokes aside, this man is proving his worth.

Might as well introduce blockchain technology as a Pilot Project in Pakistan and moved Pakistan towards decentralized crypto payments...

.
i think first our taxation department needs to be trained to collect tax using latest methods and our audit firms lack knowledge of how to audit digital transactions which will lead to further loss in tax collection as being done already by ecommerce sites and online taxies like uber and careem as we have not the capability to properly monitor revenue earned by such digital companies

GoP have to improve revenue/utility bills/parking/tolls/traffic challan/rail/metro ticket collection thru mobiles so the people could pay with ease.

Doesn't easy Paisa allow this? Or is that different?

Maybe he means like apple pay? At least the fat man is focusing on something role specific.

.
SBP won't allow it tho. He's going to find out that the entrenched financial system is too big of a hurdle. A mobile payments system makes banks redundant so they will oppose it at every step. Banks and the government have a symbiotic relationship so the government will oppose it too.

What if the alternative system is introduced bypassing the banks?

Banks will eventually have to comply or get excluded altogether from the new system.

So the Lunar calendar is a big deal ???
It doesn't solve any problem when it comes to Ruieyat it's said that as per ahadees it's been ordered to perform Ruieyat for Ramadan Kareem and Shawal ...
Now the problem are those elements who doesn't do a sh!t whole year for the Ruieyat and become a mufti on these days specially the Rat face barsati mendak who comes in only to disturb and spoil happiness among Pakistanis. A paid goon mofo.

they said the same for Pictures, camera, TV etc. Now they are using it, it will take time but People will adopt it one day.

. . .
This joker is disgracing the ministry of "science of technology", whatever he is doing these days has nothing to do with science and technology. Science and technology ministry is about promoting education and research activities in sciences and technology, but his cheapster is looking ways to remain in news and seek attention by doing various shenanigans.
