Fate of Pakistan in Punjab's hands once again

It was a polital fight between ZAB and Mujib.

Military fought to protect the nation but Mujib backstabbed Pakistan.
? Mujeeb won elections in 1970. It was his democratic right to make govt. It was never military's fight so why did they order military operation in East Pakistan instead of allowing Mujeeb to form govt as per election results?

Because Mujib was in bed with the Indians.
So Pakistanis can invade GHQ and drive out all generals because they are in bed with Americans? 🤣
If military had evidence of Mujeeb being in bed with Indians, they should have stopped him contesting in elections of 1970. First they allow him win elections fair and square, and then launch military operation against his party in East Pakistan. Dumbasses!

You are very cute :kiss3: btw where did you learn all this?
GHQ boot polish university 🥳

So why wasn't east Pakistan's majority accepted in elections of 1970?

Because the Punjabi/Sindhi elite would not give away power. Elite includes establishment, judiciary, politicians, beuracrats, tycoons. The best option was to operate as 2 Units with full power given to both regions as East Pakistan was not happy and we had lack of control. The people in power are too proud to look at the problems at grassroot level. It is also true East Pakistan was close to India, even now its an ally of India.

Why do you guys always drag our Military into your dirty politics?

Firstly, it's not "your" military (unless you are talking about the Canadian Military)

Secondly, "our" military itself interferes in "dirty politics" for retaining its role as the country's dominant power center.. No one drags them into anything

I wanted to ask some questions because I have heard things and wanted to get your opinion.

  1. My ancestors were Punjabi and I was told by a lot of people that Uttar Pradesh played a very important role in Partition, that it was Aligarh and not Punjab where things were planned, is it true? Or it was Punjab where Pakistan was created.
  2. Also was it the Punjabi people that crushed the rebellion/First freedom fight against the British? How is the story told there in Pakistan?
  3. Do Punjabi people have disproportionate influence and control in Pakistan and are they not liked by others?
  4. If yes were Punjabi behaviour, as many say that Punjabi people feel superior to other regions be it India or Pakistan, that alienated Bangladeshi people?
I am myself a Punjabi so all this is just to understand and get the opinion of people across the border. Thanks
Only @SQ8 can give you the most rational answers on these !

Aligarh and UP were the real lot, The real minds behind Pakistan.

Western India (Present Day Pakistan) was a colony of slaves with nill leadership qualities.

What a tragedy. We inherited slaves. No wonder Pakistan is in the state it is.

There were contributors everywhere but the inception began from UP and Bengal along with Sections of Lahore.

Even in Punjab terms - the eastern part of punjab(from where many migrated from) was far more cultured and educated than its western areas… Faisalabad for e.g. was an area associated with bandits that current descendants of migrants to the area still allude to.

Yahya Khan was in a position to transfer power to Mujib (who had won elections fair and square) had he wanted to, but he didn't ...

Gen. Yahya Khan pretended to hold negotiations with Sh. Mujib but he secretly left Dacca on the evening of the 25th of March, 1971, leaving instructions behind for military action to be initiated when his plane reached Karachi.

Even after the military operation, the most favourable time for a political settlement was between the months of May and September, 1971, during which a reasonable amount of normalcy had been restored and the authority of the Government had been re-established at least in most of the urban areas, if not throughout the countryside. However, no effort was made during these months to start a political dialogue with the elected representatives of the people of East Pakistan; instead fraudulent and useless measures were adopted.

General Yahya Khan instead embarked upon his scheme of by-elections after disqualifying several Awami League representatives, but these by-elections were an exercise in futility, for the reason that they were supervised and controlled by the by the Martial Law administration, and even the selection of the candidates was being made by a Major General of the Pakistan Army. In these circumstances, these newly elected representatives did not have any authority to speak on behalf of the people.

Did we learn anything from our past mistakes?

For an ideal Pakistan, What regions would you prefer ?

Given the current turmoil and Ethnicist mindset of Pashtuns and Balochis (sindhis too), Pakistan would be better divided into 4 countries (don’t call me traitor or something but ask your heart that who out of these ethnicities were ever sincere with the nation ? (Minorities from them excluded)

Good to know, please answer other questions too.

I think there are a few things India did well wrt to this, they made states smaller, which improved governance and reduced regionalism.

Out of Indian Punjab came Haryana and Himachal, many more examples happened to almost all the states, was it ever considered in Pakistan to make smaller states from Punjab and other top 3 Provinces ?
